Exclamation Another Earth? - April 24th 2009, 12:33 AM

I know, I'm notoriously posting. I apologise, but this is something that I think everyone will definitely have something to say about: http://www.comcast.net/video/life-in...st/1101345366/

I think this is FASCINATING. So when we use up our planet, we could just move over there, and we can talk about galactic wars with our kids and speak about Malcolm Reynolds and the battle of Serenity Valley... Oh wait.

Anyway, PLEASE share your thoughts, I think this is major breakthrough stuff!

Kudos for the Firefly reference.

Well hopefully the ride over there wont be rough. Otherwise we might encounter some turbulence and then... explode.

Often I lie wide awake, thinking of things I could make.
But I don’t seem to have the parts to build them.
I am so scared of what will kill me in the end, for I am not prepared.
I hope I will get the chance to be someone, to be human.

We'd best begin researching interstellar travel. We may need this planet once we've finished destroying ours.

It's near a Red Star? It's likely to die sooner than our own Sun. Forget about it when it goes Supernova.

And getting there probably won't happen any time soon, if at all. It takes a year to get to Mars and back. Mars is the closest planet to Earth. We currently don't have enough space to carry enough air with us to Mars.

I'd sing you a song, but I'm feeling quite off
in my heart; it's occupied,

and now's not the time.

This completely reminds me of Wall-E if you've seen it. Which scares me. Because if you look at the humans in it, it's scarily realistic.

I think it's a cool idea in thought, I don't think in practice it'd go over well.

The rate at which our technology increases is growing exponentially. It's hard to guess how long it might take to master interplanetary travel. The next logical step would be interstellar.

Thanks Jess for posting a new link for me!

I just think that with this discovery, we can almost definitely say that we're not the only ones in the universe -- even if right now all we have is a planet that has even plantlife. Could you imagine getting a hold of one of those plants and bringing it back here? To see what it looks like and what it's structure is? Oh my god, that would be incredible!
