They shouldn't even be testing stuff like that on animals. Why do we need glowing dogs? We don't.

That's horrible that they did that.

I find it rather interesting, although I'm not entirely sure what the use of cloned, glowing, transgenic dogs is. Most genetic work, at least developmental genetics is usually performed on fruit flies (Drosophila), mussels, possibly rats, veges/fruits but not dogs because they take too long to mature, hard to see the development as you can see in flies, so I don't know exactly what the purpose of this was.

If it's to test diseases, then that's fine but lab rats and other small lab animals are used more often so I'm not seeing the potential uses of this, unless it's to use the cloning procedure on other animals or humans, in which case, the glowing-causing proteins and molecules should be removed (assuming they affect something in non-glowing animals).

That seemed rather pointless...
Surely there are some detrimental side-effects for the dog?
Apart from the general glowing in the dark and scaring of other dogs thing.
