She deserves a harsh punishment. How could an adult even think about doing something like that? She's insane.

I heard about how much of an immature monster this woman is. I'm glad she's finally getting time.

I remember hearing about this when it happened. I do find it very disturbing that she talked to the girl, pretending to be a teenage boy. It's sick what some people will do these days.

Ew...wrong on so many levels!
Oh also, was there proof it was because of her...for example, did she leave a letter saying it was because of the boy? Not sticking up for her but theres 2 sides to every story! What she did was still wrong and deserves prison and a hefty fine!

Re: Feds want 3-year term for Mo. mom in MySpace hoax - May 7th 2009, 01:24 AM

I remember seeing this on the news when it first happened.
I honestly hate that woman, and anyone else who'd ever do something like that. I think they said on the news that the girl had been her daughters ex-best friend, and she was helping her daughter get revenge? Honestly. People need to grow up. Driving someone to suicide is no game. Besides the fact that I don't quite understand why someone would kill themselves over some 'guy' (who wasn't even a guy) they met online, I feel extremely bad for the girl who killed herself.

Re: Feds want 3-year term for Mo. mom in MySpace hoax - May 7th 2009, 02:41 AM

I heard about this on the news and I didn't see the huge problem many people see in it. She created a fictitious account and pretended to be some younger kid (possibility of identity theft in doing that) and said something harsh to some depressed little girl. As a result, said depressed little girl killed herself. To me, if this email or message that the mother-in-disguise sent was given to some non-depressed kid, then the kid is likely to have gotten angry or sad or shocked but not kill themselves. So, I say that the kid was not in the sane mental state to begin with, thus I don't see why so much blame is put on the mother.

That being said, what the mother did was rather calculating and perhaps immature. If no identity theft took place, then unless I'm wrong, it isn't illegal to create a fictitious alias for yourself as long as it's not impostering someone else.

The blame is put on the mother because it isn't okay to bully children when you're an adult, especially a parent. I don't see how a sane person could think this was a reasonable idea. Even if she can't be blamed for the girl's suicide completely, she still obviously has issues that deserve a strong reaction.

This is just sad. The poor girl. The woman was so immature, I hope she does get prison time.

Re: Feds want 3-year term for Mo. mom in MySpace hoax - May 7th 2009, 03:02 PM

I can't believe anyone, let alone a mother would do something as sick and mindlessly cruel as that. In defence of the mother and her daughter, I don't think that they had intended for the girl to kill herself, although that's definitely no excuse for being as manipulative as that. The girl would also have had to be pretty depressed to kill herself over an internet relationship. Maybe that wasn't the only reason why. I can't believe the thing people will do to get revenge. All my sympathy goes to the girl and her family.

Some people just don't know when to grow up. Well, she brought it on herself, whatever the punishment, I'm sure she'll deserve it.

It may not be morally sound, however, if she is to be prosecuted, what's more important is whether it's legally sound. As far as I can tell, if there was no identity theft, then what would be the illegal acts she committed have been?

I'm not saying that what she did was the best of things to do, as it's certainly not the common thing to make a fake account and then make some silly little girl (who I would suspect had some mental disorder or sub-threshold disorder to begin with that the mother in question had no control over) end up killing herself.

You have to wonder how pathetic that woman's life was that she felt she had to humiliate a girl who was young enough to be her daughter. I highly doubt that she ever intended for the girl to kill herself, but it just goes to show you what tragic effects bullying can have. That girl had already been suffering from depression, and to play on that is quite horrible indeed.

Re: Feds want 3-year term for Mo. mom in MySpace hoax - May 8th 2009, 05:13 AM

I'm kind of mixed on this. I know that some parents are very immature and/or stupid. It was horrible what this mother did, but I'm sure she was only doing it because she thought it would make her own daughter feel better. The girl who killed herself was also already depressed so I really don't think it's fair to say that that woman (as horrible as what she said might have been) is responsible for the death of the girl. I'm also pretty certain the mother never intended for the girl to kill herself or even be depressed really. When people are upset they lash out at others. Adults SHOULD know better, but there are alot of moronic adults out there I have come to realize.
