When Coming Out Goes Better Than You Thought - April 14th 2016, 06:08 PM

I hope this video doesn't come across as a violation of ToS (I've had this happen before because of "promoting external sources" or something like it, so I like to sort of "preemptively" leap-frog that argument by bringing it out immediately):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgHwF4CNiJA

Sure, it is satirical. There are communities where "coming out" will be met with more hate, and there are communities where it will be met with less. And there are communities where no one cares anymore whatsoever. And there are also some isolated ones where it is even popularized.

I have spent probably the largest part of my life growing up in communities in and around central London, where people generally don't care anymore. And I don't care much either. I have also spent some time in other more conservative communities, less tolerant of these kinds of things. So I can really compare the differences.

It is good that a person gets over their mental barriers and "comes out", but I really get the impression that some people get so used to "living in fear" throughout childhood, that later in life they don't know how to live without it. Even when no one cares, nobody has anything bad to say, or anything good to say, they still look for some sort of "validation" of their former fears. Any sort of validation/reaction, positive, or negative.
And of course, if you go out especially looking for a reaction, you're going to get one sooner or later, and whatever happens then is on you. At that point it is really quite a strong indication of some sort of personality disorder. I recommend to see a psychologist, and that is not meant as a insult, but genuine advice.

I actually posted the link to the video, because I knew a carbon-copy real life case just like this (including the ending where he says he is "bi"), just without the satirical element, because it was not funny. To be honest, it was annoying instead, but nobody could say anything without getting called "homophobic" and all the rest of that. Politics eh? That is not good. People should generally be encouraged to speak their honest opinion when there is a context for it. The person I'm talking about probably went for a long time without even knowing how annoying he was to be around, because either people were too anxious about telling him, or he didn't actually have close enough friends who would actually speak their mind to him. Like I said, he was annoying to be around for most people.

.

"I don't care about politics"
Then politics doesn't care about you either. Truth. You've got to make your voice heard, if you want to be listened to. But that's too logical for some people, so let me go a step further. Not making your voice heard, leaves other people free to hijack it by speaking on your behalf, even if they don't actually give a shit about you. That's politics. So, make your voice heard. That's not a quote from anywhere. That's just me.
