So err yeah, my friend showed me this. And I have to say I was speechless
I put it as triggering because it is a tad graphic. and lot shocking.

I don't actually get the purpose of the video. Is it advising you against getting pregnant during adolescence or showing you what could happen if you get pregnant?

But then I have never understood teen pregnancy to begin with.

It was a cool video though, even if it was (like you said Drownedintheflood) a tad graphic. Could definitely liven up PHSCE lessons.

Oh..i get what you mean by graphic.

It is kind of unrealistic, but kind of puts the message across at the same time. But i suppose looking at the youtube comments, just makes people laugh at it rahter than take it as a serious matter.

I don't mind it at all. The scene in "Knocked Up" was more graphic.

Very unrealistic, but I can definitely see the point that it's trying to make. I do think it's a little bit graphic, though.

yeah I think the reason I was shocked at first is because the girl looks like someone I know. so I was a bit like wth. But watching it back I can see why people would find it funny

ah that's pretty funny. i don't think it'll work at all. if someone wants to get pregnant/have unprotected sex watching this isn't likely to put them off tbh.

Right. And I, personally, think that it would be more convincing if it was actually a little more realistic and not a girl giving birth in the middle of a school yard. That doesn't happen. (At least not often... hopefully.) What does happen, though, is people always talking about you, whispering as you walk by, making up things about who they think the father is, etc. without knowing anything. I think it would be maybe even a little more effective if it was more realistic and not so comical. It seems like they were trying to make it kind of... funny, I guess you'd say.

Re: Teenage pregnancy awareness video - May 19th 2009, 06:08 PM

Well when I first watched it I thought it was someone running to film a fight. And from the way it looked to me (the first time) I thought it was two girls fighting, then at the last min. it was shown it was actually a birth in progress:O

Like a scene of girls fighting does usually look like that... maybe thats what they were getting at when they said "its not always what you expected"

I dunno but that's my two cents

Um....can someone please tell me why she's having the baby in the middle of a field? xD If it was real it'd be disturbing but it's not so I can't say that I really care. Kids are going to have sex anyway.

That's just weird. Definitely not realistic, and I don't see how it's going to be a deterrant, since the chances of a girl giving birth in a schoolyard are slim to none.

Well, the next time I have sex I'm wearing eight condoms. Who's with me?

Re: Teenage pregnancy awareness video - May 20th 2009, 04:25 AM

I don't think it's supposed to be taken so literally as to be dismissed because it's unrealistic for a girl to give birth in a field. They're trying to draw an analogy - you're expecting to get a fight, and instead you see a girl giving birth, which they then connect to "This isn't what you were expecting? Well, parenting won't be either, so be careful!" Whether or not it's effective, eh, I don't know how ground breaking it was, but I think people are looking too much into the field birth thing.

If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life
that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

Heh, found it a bit funny. It's a dramatization, however, it does have a good meaning to it. Not graphic though.

It has good meaning, but I think a lot of people won't take it seriously. Honestly, I hate how the kids are standing around her watching. Go get HELP! Run fast! I wouldn't want my bits out for display like that either. It's definitely unrealistic. I would think you'd know you are in labor before you hit the ground and the baby pops out so to say. Whoever was holding this camera seemed to be shaking terribly!

Definitely not what I was expecting.

Ewwwww. That was actually pretty gross... It wasn't really graphic but still gross.

Re: Teenage pregnancy awareness video - May 21st 2009, 03:46 PM

It's funny and I'm in two minds about whether or not it'll get the message across because I'm sure a few teenagers will start to buck up their ideas and start using protection and watch what their doing like they should be but then you'll still have some who just won't listen, will have sex regardless and end up in that situation, especially the ones who actually want to get pregnant in their teenage years. Then I think you need to take a different approach to show them how much of a responsibility it really is.

Hilarious, but very unrealistic. I doubt it will make people think twice.

And a girl having birth in a field isn't that far fetched...if you live in the country.
