Remington can be sued for Newton school shooting

What are your thoughts?

I have two thoughts on this:

Way to go. Hold them accountable. Maybe something like this will make gun companies more aware and they'll stop making weapons this dangerous and will be more cautious with marketing.

AND then I have this thought:

Is this a slippery slope? Will people be able to hold car makers accountable if their family member is killed by a drunk driver etc?

I haven't fully formed an opinion so would like thoughts on the matter. It'd be interesting to get others opinions and it might help me to solidify my own feelings.

I agree that this is a difficult situation to be in. While I agree that the lawsuit again the gun manufacturer is not uncalled for; it will give rise to lawsuits against other manufacturers in incident involving a death whether that be homocide, murder, accident, or suicide. Because it goes beyond the act made with that product (gun, car, or otherwise) and that particular individual's state of mind and circumstances surrounding it.

The big thing I thought of as I read the article and recalled the date as having been in December 2012... that was almost seven years ago, which means the survivors in the same classrooms as the teacher and students that died should be young teenagers by now. What do they think? I feel like they should be given a voice as well. Just my two cents.

I know that Purdue was massively sued over their role in the opioid epidemic, so I'm wondering if there is precedent for things like this.
