Exclamation chasers go to far-Chaser child actors knew cancer-stricken girl, mum says - June 7th 2009, 03:12 AM

Chaser child actors knew cancer-stricken girl, mum says | TV | News.com.au
AdelaideNow... Chaser child actors knew cancer-stricken girl, mum says

for those who dont know the chasers are these 3 comidians who have this show called "chaser's war on everything" where they like to push the bandries but this is too much and gose too far.

how could that family do that, they knew a family whose daughter had cancer and they let their kids do the skit thats pocking fun at what these poor girl suffers with.

how can any1 poke fun at very sick and dying kids and then to say at the end "they're going to die anyway".

its just NOT right

Re: chasers go to far-Chaser child actors knew cancer-stricken girl, mum says - June 7th 2009, 03:37 AM

they weren't poking fun at the sick kids or the fact they had cancer, they were poking fun at the charities - which is bad, but not quite as.

I think they did take it too far, but its getting a bit annoying hearing all this stuff about how they paid out cancer..which isn't true wasn't really the point from what i could gather..

hah! i loved that the mother said she enjoys the show when it's not poking fun at her problems, and other peoples instead, makes her just as bad really doesn't it.
besides, it's al well and good for many to laugh at terrorism, but cancer omg no..those wives who lost husbands in sep 11 prob find the terrorisim jokes just as horrible, so maybe people complaining about this one, should stop being so selfish..the show hurts everyone, and if they weren't being self-centred they would've realised it ages ago and never watched it long enough to see this particular skit..

sorry this really irritates me..i don't find them that great myself, but come on it was a joke that obv fell through, big deal, i think everyone needs to lay off, and have a look at their own actions when they laugh at others misforturnes.

"Why grant a wish, when they're only going to die anyway" is having a go at the children. That's the line that really got me.

This is sick and wrong. They could have actually made a good joke out of it really. But it would have been a fine line. Not only did they cross the line, they jumped across it and danced on the other side.

i agree plus with the way they did it almost makes these children out to be shelfish and greedy. they didnt even really apologise to the make-a-wish foundation or the children they just gave an explanation, apologised that no-body got the funny side of it and they only did that because the abc made them do it...not because they wanted to or because they really were sorry...but because they had too

It does sound awful, but it's hard to judge without actually seeing the skit. I've noticed that people tend to overreact about these things though, so I'm not overly concerned. People need to stop being so sensitive.

I think this is wrong. You shouldn't make fun of children, especially sick kids. Because, well they are kids. They'll think they did something bad or that cancer is their fault. I just find this wrong on so many levels.

I don't think anything should really be off limits to make fun of. I mean, a lot of things comedians make fun of can be offensive if you take it to heart. They're just jokes though. They aren't meant to be taken seriously.

The other thing is this show is meant for adults, not children, so if a kid ends up seeing it and feeling badly then it's the parents' fault for letting them watch it.

If you read the article there is a link to the skit on there. It wasn't overreacting. It wasn't even people being overly-sensitive. It was really bad in my opinion. It wasn't funny in the least.

mer i think they have a point with that line..why grant them a wish they will die anyway..the charity would be put to better use using the money of those wishes to actually research and help find cures. I mean its nice and all for that kid to get something cool before they pass away, and i understand it helps the familys cope..but i'd rather help make sure it never happened to anyone elses kid. I guss i've never lost a family member form terminal illness..and im in a sort of harsh mood. I havn't watched the skit and ican't be bothered atm..but relaly its just a joke gone wrong, everyone gets offended about somthing. i'm personally not offended by paying out dying kids or cancer since neither has effected me..so if i was going to go around believeiing the world centred around me id say "it's not offensive in the least!"

obviously it is offensive, but only to the minority who it effects. that being said, i don't really condone humour that is only funny by paying out other groups of people in the first place, so it's not as though im all that keen on the chasers anyway like i stated above.

Wow... I really liked the Chaser's War on Everything until this. That's really horrible.

EDIT: Okay, I watched the skit. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I stilll like the show, but that skit was really distasteful.
