'Balloon boy' incident was hoax, sheriff says - October 18th 2009, 08:46 PM

Read the story here.

Earlier this week two storm chasers sent off a balloon and said their six year old son was inside. Then the balloon landed and he was not in it leading to a thorough search of the area. Comments made by him indicate to the authorities that the whole thing was a hoax.

What do people think about this story? I personally think it is ridiculous that the parents would do this to themselves and their three sons.

they seem like attention seekers to me. i reckon it was definitely all set up.
surely if your kid went missing you'd search your whole house first before calling the police in and saying he was flying away inside a giant balloon? it's kinda ridiculous.

I believe they did it for publicity stunt, , I heard a rumor relating to this that I think one of the parents called the press conference before calling the cops, apparently they must be that desperate to get any attention from us.

Wasn't this family also on some reality tv show? They're just trying to get famous, and it's clearly working.

They were on either Nanny 911 or Supernanny. I personally am not sure if it's a hoax, either way the boy is safe. That's all that matters...for now.
