The countdown begins!! 2010 Winter Olympics!! - October 31st 2009, 01:02 AM

The countdown begins!!

104 days until the start of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver [and Whistler] British Columbia, CANADA

Hi Everyone!!

I hope you're having a super duper dandy day!!

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA The Olympic torch arrived this morning - about 3 blocks from where I live!! It came directly from Greece. I didn't see it. [Because I was sleeping] But I sure heard it!! [Not the torch - but the jets!!] Four CF-18 jets roared right over my head!! It scared the sillies out of me!! Sheesh!! My teeth are still rattling!! lol

This relay - that has already started, will be the longest relay in all of Olympic history. Every day for 105 days!! All across Canada. [The second largest country in the world - in case you didn't know!!]

I'm just about to see it for myself. [It's going to pass by my way again in about an hour] And then I'll walk to the Parliament Buildings to watch the evening ceremony. [There's going to be fireworks too!!] I wish you were all here to enjoy this with me!!

Truth be told - I'm not in favour of the Olympics. But it's here and it's happening. So I might as well 'act as if' I love the idea!! lol

GREAT BIG HUG

All I see at UBC are posters and writing on the bathroom wall encouraging us to boycott the Olympics. I don't entirely support the decision for Vancouver to host the Olympics, but I'm at the point where I think the boycotters need to accept defeat. The Olympics are going to be here, whether I like it or not. Since some of the events are being held at my school, we're getting an extra week off for reading break, and since that means I get to spend more time back in Ontario with my family, I'm fairly happy on that account. Lots of my friends think I'm crazy for not wanting to stay in Vancouver during the Olympics, but I wouldn't be able to see events anyways, so I don't see a need to be here.

Not around so much now that school's started

"Live a good life.
If there are gods and they are just,
then they will not care how devout you have been,
but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by.
If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them.
If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life
that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."
