Arizona grocery store workers poised to strike - November 12th 2009, 09:28 PM

http://www.kswt.com/Global/story.asp?S=11494891

Union workers at two major Arizona grocery store chains are set to go on strike at 6 p.m. Friday if they can't reach a deal on a new contract.
The stakes are high for about 25,000 workers and their employers, grocery giants Safeway and Fry's, owned by The Kroger Company, amid the nation's economic meltdown.
If they strike, union members would get just $100 a week in strike pay. And with Arizona among the nation's most competitive grocery regions, the companies could lose coveted market share if they don't settle.
United Food and Commercial Union Local 99 says the companies' contract offer was unacceptable, mostly because of a new health care fee, while the companies say the contract was fair and reasonable.

I've seen the proposal its a joke..

This happens a lot. We almost had a huge strike with the King Soopers, Albertson's, and Safeway a bit ago. And they're constantly looking for temporary employee's in case they strike without warning.

I would so cross a picket line for the money they offer. =P

You are not suppose to cross picket lines

I actually hate unions, but that proposal is stupid.
