Girl Hospitalized Over R-Patz Poster. - November 18th 2009, 12:08 PM

That's taking the Robsession a bit too far, don't you think?
300 fans won tickets to the world fan premiere in London of the DVD documentary about Robert Pattinson aptly titled
Robsessed. Free posters were passed out in Leicester Square and it got very ugly between two girls!
An eyewitness describes the scene:
Quote:
"A massive fight broke out between two girls over the last poster. There was a lot of pushing and shoving, everyone was crowding around them. I heard gasps as one of the girls fell on the floor, she was in terrible pain and had twisted her arm — she was screaming for help. The poster had been ripped in two."
The injured girl ended up missing the screening because she had to be taken to the hospital!
A spokesman for the DVD assures us that plenty of the R-Patz posters were printed, but many fans took more than one.
The world just can't get enough of R-Patz!

I know I shouldn't find this funny as a few people got hurt but I can't help it. People really take celeb crushes too far.

That's just plain stupid.

For starters, he isn't attractive enough to get into a fight with someone over a poster for, especially if you end up hospitalized. Why did no-one think to step in, stop the fight or at least stop being so greedy and offer up one of their posters if they had two to stop it from happening? I honestly think people need to get a grip and realise it's just a normal guy who landed himself a decent role in a decent film, there is no need to get that way over him.

Secondly, I think the people running the thing should have realised what people are really like. I mean, the documentary is called "Robsessed", isn't that proof enough that people are in fact obsessed with him? And with that, they should have either printed more posters in case instead of having the exact amount of posters for one per person or at least made sure everyone got at least one. It could have been so easily avoided then.

No one is really!! A fight over a poster of anyone isn't worth it

Hmmm more reasons for me to hate the whole "Twilight" phenomenon .

Haha those were the exact words my mom said when I was I talking to
my mom about it over the phone. Hmmm, I'm not one of those twilight
die hard fans, definitely not obessed with Robert Pattinson and fighting over a poster? is so not worth it.

I remember when he was in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? I think it was that one and I thought he was attractive, yes, but never got that obsessed over him!
After twilight I just thought it's just another actor who's going to get girls swarming around him. No biggy.

As for the poster fight? Wow. I'm actually speechless.

It's so stupid, why fight over a poster? Especially when you can pick up three magazines just about Rob, with each having about seven posters. Granted, this comes from the girl who squealed when she say the twilight cups at work and the cut outs of Edward and Jacob on the Windows xD.

This makes me kind of sad to read... I don't know why. I don't see what is so special about Robert Pattinson... (Who decided to call him R-Patz? Sounds like a bad rapper)

I feel bad for her. For a lot of reasons.

Mostly, I feel bad because I think there's something missing from your life if you need to obsess to such an extent over a celebrity. And then I feel bad because she missed the actual screening in the end...

All in all, this is just sad in every conceivable way.

Why is it called "Robsessed"? I'm pretty sure it's an obsession with Edward Cullen as opposed to the actor playing him.

There are die-hard fans for pretty much everything and everyone, although I think more posters should have been printed especially if it's at such an event where it's likely people are going to gobble up posters.

I don't see why they fought over the poster. There are plenty of magazines, pictures, etc... of the guy so why not just get one of those pictures? If it was some limited-edition poster, I'm sure it'd appear on eBay, Amazon, etc... and you can get it there or at another event similar as this one.

True, however, you cant meet the character in real-life unless a vampire named Edward Cullen happens to come who looks just like the Twilight's Edward Cullen. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing though... .

Why would you be willing to go to the hospital over a guy you've never even MET, and probably never will? All of this Twilight business is getting really old. It's a good book, but it's not worth battling people over for a darn poster. And honestly, if you're going to fight over a poster of a guy, at least make it a hot guy.

Errm excuse me?

I made one single comment and you take from that I am anything like these people?
If you knew how to read and interpret English (I'm assuming that you are unable to do this as you can't type it) you would have read my post properly.

GTFO

I'm an adult and actually think it's all a bit pathetic, but people have adored celebrities for decades and events like this one aren't by any means new. It will always happen. I had a few borderline obsessive crushes when I was in my early teens too! Not that I would have even bothered waiting for a poster, mind - I'm far too lazy.

Please use grammar, even if you refuse to make an attempt to spell correctly, because it makes it near impossible to decipher what you're trying to say without even commas.

You're not supposed to care if a celebrity steps into the streets, no one gives a damn what you think. Equally you are not supposed to care in what other people are interested in.

It really is an indication of your ignorance that you feel able to say that celebrities don't do anything. Have you ever watched a movie? Listened to music? I'm going to assume the answer to both these questions is yes. In all likelihood celebrities acted in that film and produced that music. This provides a service to the general population and hence they defintley do 'something'.

Many, many celebrities put their own time and money - probably far more than you do - into helping and supporting charities and other worthy causes. Putting the opportunities they have with their fame to good use. How many campaigns for charities do you see have celebrities endorcing them? The majority.

True there are some people who are famous for incomprehensionable reasons. These tend to be the minority.

You keep bringing this back to me "ur not as bad", "ur the problem". Really Alright then. You're not worth my time arguing with.

I watch TheAmazingAtheist on YouTube and he brought up a valid point about Robert Pattinson. I like Robert Pattinson because in five years, no one is going to give a shit about him. He's only big now because the whole Twilight shit came out and the movie is successful only because it's directed towards little girls and/or women who try to justify their clingyness to their boyfriends. But in five years, he's not going to be as big as he is now. Let him soak up the fame, and I encourage little girls to fight over posters...be sure to record the fights and put them on Youtube, and just for shits and giggles...make it a Last Woman Standing match...that way we can get rid of pathetic human beings in the process. It's a win-win situation.

Kind of irrelevant, but TheAmazingAtheist seriously needs to get his mouth shut for him or laid. I can't stand the guy because he's just so negative about everything.

Yeah, it's no different than when Heath Ledger died. It's probably going to be just like that. At first, it's a huge climax with people being like oh he was such a good actor and such, and now it's like...BILLY MAYS...NO!!!!!! MICHAEL JACKSON....NOOOOOOO!!!! Give it a couple years and it'll be thrown to the curb.

Re: Girl Hospitalized Over R-Patz Poster. - December 8th 2009, 02:41 AM

Here's my thing with him. I was 16 when Harry Potter 4 came out and honestly the second I saw him and realized what character he was I cried because I thought it was so sad that someone that cute had to die. However now he is just creepy looking. Also I don't understand the attraction of Twilight at all. I've tried to have friends who are fans explain it to me but I honestly can't understant it, I'm the same way with High School Musical and Zach Efron. Anyway this was incredibly stupid and both girls are going to wake up one day and realize that.

However I find Taylor georgeous and if he was three years older and I met him in a personal venue I would be all over that. I mean obviously he doesn't mind dating girls who have the same first name.

Robessed? it DOES sound like a bad rapper's name. I don't find him attractive one bit to say the least. I do hope the girl that was hospitalized was okay but geez, fighting over a poster?? seriously, use your head there,it's not worth it all to me over one poster.

I find this really funny. People can be so stupid. I like twilight but no I wouldnt do that for a poster of Rob or anyone I actually liked for that matter.

I still miss Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson lol. But I agree that in a few years and people will forget about it. It's just another fad, like Pokemon in the 90s (even though I still think Pokemon is awesome )

It´s clearly very silly looking at the situation from afar, but I think being in the moment it´s understandable. Celebrities are people we hear about constantly, look up to and fantasize about. Even though we don´t really know them, they become a part of our lives in some way (for some more than others). I´m sure the girls just got caught up in the excitement. I was hyperventilating and shaking when I met a Canadian Idol contestant. I knew it was so silly because he is just a human being, but I couldn´t stop. I was too excited. lol
