Although I am not going, I'm not against it, even though I am pro-choice. Everyone's voice should be heard.

I'm not going. I'm kind of undecided between pro-life and pro-choice, honestly. Though in most cases I'd lean toward pro-choice.

I am not going, as I am pro-choice.

Honestly, I do not quite understand the "pro-life" movement. When life truly begins is a belief, and for many, it is a religious belief. It isn't clear to me why one thought should be forced upon the rest of society.

but I'm gonna try
to get better and overcome each moment
in my own way"

I'm wondering whether this should be elsewhere, since this is really just going to turn into an abortion debate, which doesn't seem to be the intent of the OP...

This is also the current event forum, not just the debate forum.

I would be going, but because of school and such, I wasn't able to. Next year, you had better believe I'll be there!
Lizzie and Becca, how was it???

It went really well. There where a lot of supports there, hundreds of thousands of people. I have a picture looking at the parade behind me, and in front of me, and it is just a sea of people. It was so great to be apart of something so big.

Re: March For Life - January 23rd 2010, 04:44 PM

I have a question about the March for Life.

I'm pro-life and I was planning to go a few years ago, however before the day of the march, I found out that it was to take place in front of a row of abortion clinics. I don't think its right to do that. The women who go to these clinics are already in a terrible emotional state. We shouldn't be making them feel worse by marching up and down in front of them, telling them they're committing murder.

So, is it still practice to march in front of abortion clinics?

Re: March For Life - January 23rd 2010, 04:49 PM

Honestly I donít know if it was ever in front of abortion clinics. I am really not sure. But this year it was not, it was in front of the Supreme Court. But there are so many people, not everyone can fit around the Supreme Court, so it backs up into the streets. But the police are prepared for such events and closed down the streets in the area for us. And it was a peace rally; we just held signs and walked. Some people prayed aloud, and others sang. No one was yelling, or talking to people on the streets, we just walked peacefully by. : )

Here is the route we took this year if you are interested:

Re: March For Life - January 24th 2010, 05:03 AM

It was probably one of the most life-changing experiences of my life. I was amazed to see hundreds of thousands of people peacefully standing up for the right to life. Lizzie, I didn't see you, but if you saw a girl in one of those blue Massachusetts hats, 50% chance it was me

Re: March For Life - January 24th 2010, 06:14 AM

Ever since the March was started, it went from the Verizon Center (typically) to the Supreme Court, marking the decision of Roe v. Wade. At least, when I went, that's where we started.
I went back in 2006, by the way. It was SUCH a phenomenal experience to be a part of something so huge. Yeah, we had the typical signs that people who were against the March used, but even that was pretty peaceful. We went to Mass on that Sunday before the March. 2,000+ Catholics gathered in one place supporting the same cause with people -still- standing out the door because they weren't allowed in because of the fire marshal limits.
Talk about powerful.
