If you got a chance to run the Government! what program would you cut to save taxpayer money, what would it be and why?

Mandatory drug testing on all federal aid recipients.
Legalization and regulation of marijuana and prostitution.
Elimination of NAFTA
Complete obliteration of any policies supporting the "trickle down" theory.

WOW, WHERE'D ALL THIS MONEY COME FROM?

Often I lie wide awake, thinking of things I could make.
But I donít seem to have the parts to build them.
I am so scared of what will kill me in the end, for I am not prepared.
I hope I will get the chance to be someone, to be human.

I'd start with cutting the lines on whatever powers Ann Coulter. Really though, taxes would not be going down if it were me in the Captain's chair.

The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours, and in time our atoms will once again reside amongst the stars. Life is but an idle dalliance of the cosmos, frail, and soon forgotten. We have been set adrift in an ocean whose tides we are only beginning to comprehend and with that maturity has come the realization that we are, at least for now, alone. -- Legalization and regulation of prostitution and marijuana.
-- Strengthen the borders
-- Adopt Hammurabi's code of laws An eye for an eye! Or just a stricter sentence. Don't build more prison buildings; kill more criminals instead.
-- Higher taxes on alcohol, but keep the drinking age 21
-- Higher taxes on caffeine
-- free public health care
-- Lower the pornography age to 16
-- Legalization and regulation of street racing
-- Nude beaches
etc

-Bring back public executions
-Lower age of consent to 15
-"Fire at will" at illegals crossing the border, excluding children
-Lower age for firearm ownership to 12 (Handguns 14)

Good lord I don't even know where to begin with this. Free college/university sounds good though.

Along with that any country that implements this will rapidly become the most hated first-world country in existence. Besides which millions of people would either emigrate or riot, depending on how patriotic they are. Ever watched V for Vendetta? Basically that. Such an isolationist state would never float in this age.

We can calm rioters, strong police control, it would work, anyway we only need the Germans and the Saudi, Oil and Tech.

The diplomatic consequences alone would cripple the country almost instantly. No first-world country is self-sustaining, or capable of it. Any government that tried something like that would find itself cut off and incapable of supporting its country, leading to it being rapidly tossed out of office. Thankfully of course, every first world country has enough sense to not elect any party running on a platform like that in the first place, but this is a hypothetical debate and all.

Hi Darr!!

I hope you're OK. [You ARE OK right?]

I think you might want to re-think your position on having 'free college'. And I say that because it's even more unlikely that the rest of your suggestions would ever be implemented [With the exception of the 'reduce taxes' idea] if Americans were given the opportunity to become smarter.

Just a thought!!!

Guile, I see where you're coming from...but I'm gonna have to disagree with you.

Quote:
Reduce taxes
It's a nice idea to reduce taxes, but the fact is that the US is in a lot of debt....which MEANS that if taxes WERE reduced, then we'd have to make up for those lost taxes doing something else. Either way, we're fucked both ways.

Quote:
Ban marijuana for ANY use
If you asked my sister how much I'm against marijuana, you'd probably question why I would want marijuana legalized and regulated. Here's my reason: because marijuana seems to be high in demand, I believe that people would spend a certain amount of money on marijuana. So what do you do? Tax the shit out of it. Make that shit expensive for the average user and let it burn holes in pockets for habitual smokers. And if it's expensive, I actually believe that there won't be as many marijuana users as there are now. It's a win-win, basically. They get high, you get the profits. Of course, they could just buy illegal weed, which is why you up the punishment if you're caught and strengthen the borders!

Quote:
Death sentence for more crimes, IE. murder, rape, robbery, drug possession over 3oz.
I would agree with murder, but the others? Not so much. If it's rape, then I think they should have their legs cut off and prison sentence. If it's robbery, they should serve prison sentence and also have their hands cut off. Drug possession over 3 oz? The more they have, the more they have to consume, spend the night in jail, and get sprayed with a fire hydrant hose.

Quote:
Lower age of consent to 15
I'm assuming you want the age of consent lowered to 15 in all US states and not just yours...because a lot of states (like mine) have age of consent of 16...which isn't really that much different than 15.

Quote:
"Fire at will" at illegals crossing the border, excluding children
I don't think we should KILL them, but we should definitely send them back. We have over 22 million illegal immigrants...a pretty big dent in our population. Need to strengthen the borders and catch their asses if they get across. Not kill them. Killing them would demoralize them, and basically anyone with a gun and permit could walk into a construction site and shoot some of the workers and they wouldn't get in trouble. That's just not right at all.

Quote:
-Free college
-Separate the schools based on intelligence
Free college? Yeah...that's not going to work. There is no such thing as free, anyways.

They kind of have it like that...a dumb person isn't going to be at Harvard or any other university like that. Depending on the college, you gotta have certain requirements to be accepted...so they already have separate schools based on intelligence...ideally.

Quote:

I kind of laughed at this one, but I kind of agree.

Well I want to cut the spending to where we can reduce taxes and pay debt. But I know what you mean.

I can agree with your point some, although I still think it should be banned, this is a close alternative.

I like the "cut the legs off idea" we could also tattoo a big R on their forehead so their shame and emberassment can be as much of a punishment.

Im British so I cant really comment, only things I'd want doing here are NO more immigrants allowed into the country unless they were a UK Citizen before.

Death sentance on any jail terms over 15 years.

Raise the tax on ciggerettes by... alot.

Raise legal driving age from 17 to 18.

Lower legal alcohol drinking age from 18 to 16.

-Legalize Gay Marriage
-Make Marijuana use legal
-Lower Drinking age to 18 (Young people are allowed to go and fight wars at this age but they cannot drink )
-Universal health care
-Make College a little more affordable
-Raise taxes (This would help with a lot of things I believe.)

It doesn't bother you that many - maybe even most - of the people who can't afford proper health care are in that situation through no fault of their own?

Regarding marijuana, I'm curious to hear your opinion on smoking cigarettes.

Like choosing a lousy career, not going to college, snorting their healthcare budget away...

Oh and cigarettes are dirty, rotten, rancid things.

Most Americans without Healthcare make over $50,000 a year, so with that much money, they obviously have other priorities.

Legal opinion, I meant. Apologies, thought that was obvious.

I'm curious to see where this statistic actually comes from.

-Healthcare, 36 million uninsured (legal) US residents.

18 million of them make over $50,000 a year - Carmen DeNaves-Walt, Bernadette D. Proctor, and Jessica C. Smith for the U.S. Bureau of Census, "Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2007" (Washington D.C.: Bureau of Census 2008), www.census.gov/prod/2008pubs/p60-235.pdf

On another note more then half have a household income of over $75,000 - Carmen DeNaves-Walt, Bernadette D.

I may not be a Nazi, but I am a Nazi about my sources.

So I see, but you're not too good about answering questions. Still haven't said what you think laws on cigarettes should be. Didn't say how you felt about people who are too poor to be able to afford health care either, but I can guess.

Oh I thought I added that in, no I don't think they should be legal. We have temporary programs for people out of work that can help them with healthcare, we should not have a "because you can't cut it" healthcare system.
