Travis and Brendan - two best friends - now sharing a final resting place - October 2nd 2010, 10:14 AM

Hi Everyone!!

I hope you're OK.

Travis and Brendan - two best friends - now sharing a final resting place

"In a quiet ceremony Friday at Arlington National Cemetery, a Marine [Travis Manion] killed three years ago in Iraq was reburied to be next to his close friend [Brendan Looney] a Navy SEAL who was recently killed in Afghanistan and who will be laid to rest alongside the Marine on Monday."

That's very sad. But what moved me most of all - what tugged at my heart [More than anything else] was the love that Brendan's wife Amy has for Brendan.

"Brendan had told his brother that he would want to be buried next to Travis," Manion-Borek said. When Looney's wife Amy first heard the news, "the first thing that came out of her mouth was, 'well then he has to be buried next to Travis,' " Manion-Borek said.

It would be natural for a wife to want to be buried next to her husband - but she put that aside and immediately - OUT OF LOVE - paved the way for her husband to have what HE wanted more than anything else. [Insofar as where HE wanted to be buried] THAT IS LOVE.

Click on THIS to read the story.

GREAT BIG HUG
Craig!!

Very touching story. Marines generally hate the navy, so it's like two best friends that represent the different sides of the spectrum. That's how my best friend and I are...we talk about taking bullets for each other, and my best friend always wants me to get a tattoo but I'm like "the only tattoo I'll be getting is if you die before me" and all that shit. I'd want to be buried next to my best friend...just in case ghosts are real, I could be like "ahhhh...another beautiful day...mornin' D....I heard you and Car-Crash Christine, from down the hill, having sex last night. Can't a ghost get some sleep around here? Shit!"

The truest love is often found in friendship. This story made me go aww. It's sad, but happy? I like this.

She whispered to her own reflection "I will be strong."

"I am not what has happened to me.I am what I have chosen to become."- Carl Jung

"If ye harm none, do as ye wish."

Sometimes things just happen.

Smile through the tears.

This is semi-off topic, but I know the Manion family. They live near me. They are an amazing family and Travis was an amazing person as well.

It amazes me that the story of Travis and his friend has become a national (and even to Canada) story.

There is always hope. PM me anytime.
