That certainly is very interesting. I hope I never post on TH when I'm sleep walking.

Yeah, people have done plenty of things while sleepwalking, such as commit murder, go outside in the street, etc... .

My sister used to go to the front door and open and close it while she was asleep. She could have let anyone in!

Oh goodness. Now I'm worried I might sleepwalk and do something stupid.

One lady (there was a documentary about her on Discovery) binge-eats in her sleep. She just goes to her kitchen, raids the fridge, eats all night, and goes back to bed with no memory of what happened.

I used to sleepwalk as a little kid, but as far as I know I haven't done than in years.

Re: woman emails while asleep - February 20th 2009, 05:08 AM

I really got into all the sleep walking and doing stuff while asleep while I was taking psychology.

Whoever told these people that no one has been able to be too intricate things such as logging online while asleep, didn't do their research. There is this thing where you eat while you're full out asleep, like you might eat anything. And this one family locked up their refrigerator, and hid the key. This person looked around, found the key, went back, unlocked the lock. And that's not the only thing people have done. People drive, people do whatever.

No, not being sarcastic and it's not limited to those crappy horror movies.

Here are some other sources:
http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.c...epwalking.html
http://www.courttv.com/archive/trial...61699_ctv.html (I believe this case is still in progress)
Google for more.

And some research papers would include Dr. Rosalind Cartwright's paper: Sleepwalking violence: A Sleep Disorder, a Legal Dilemma and a Psychological Challenge, The American Journal of Psychiatry July 2004, Volume 161, Issue 7, Pages 1149-1158.
And another paper by Mark W. Mahowald and Carlos H. Schenck Parasomnias: Sleepwalking and the Law , Sleep Medicine Reviews August 2000, Volume 4, Issue 4, Pages 321-339.

And for some reason bold is being dumb right now =/

I read in this magazine about a woman who always wanted sex when she was asleep.

It's kinda worrying what we do in our sleep, we don't remember it the next morning.

Yeah, sex among other things can happen in sleep, as odd as it may be. Sleep paralysis is a fine example that during sleep, our bodies for the most part, are paralyzed (not every part but most of it). The issue for murder in sleep or sex, what do we legally do? For sex, was the person who was sleep-walking consenting? If they consciously had more control like they normally would, then would have they still consented? If not, then is it rape, sexual assault or what actually is it? I'm not very well-versed in legal aspects so I'm not sure how that would be handled.

True, we don't remember it the next morning but depending on the person and what was done, it may be for the better. A person who is against murder sleepwalks and kills someone in some brutal way probably would want to not remember the details of the crime committed.

Yeah Toast, it is quite interesting... although could a mod/admin somehow get rid of that dumb unwanted bolded part?

How do they know she was asleep and not dissociated or something?

Well, that is a fairly good question. I suppose that if they knew she does sleepwalk and do complex activities while doing so, it'd be suspect more towards sleepwalking. However, knowing the website, login username and password would be a bit challenging even for a sleepwalker. But, I suppose it could be possible she was sleepwalking.

When I was about 5, I sleep walked to our front door at camp, and was trying to open it. The bolt was too high for me, and my step dad caught me. He asked what I was doing, and I turned to him and said "I need to go find bullets"

Young kids tend to sleepwalk fairly often and do a countless amount of things. Who knows, maybe if there was no bolt or if it was lower, you'd have gotten bullets, loaded a gun and went hunting.
