It's one of the many perils of having an event for one of the richest sports in the world in a city with severe extremes of wealth - the Interlagos circuit is surrounded by favelas so it's not surprising that some people take matters into their own hands. It's none the less horrible for it and I feel very sorry for the Sauber mechanics in particular and hope they are all right, but hopefully it will bring attention to what is a fundamental problem in Sao Paolo and has been for some time. I mean that as no disrespect to the city or its citizens but the gap between rich and poor has only become more pronounced and when people's lives are in danger as a result something needs to be done.

"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Nelson Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom

However bleak things seem, however insurmountable the darkness appears, remember that you have worth and nothing can take that away.

I actually couldn't agree with that more...
It's a silly place to have the event.
Fair enough, not everywhere can be rich and powerful.. But it's getting to be a danger peoples lives.
I mean.. Machine guns?! God.
