Anyone worried about WWIII? - December 19th 2010, 12:50 AM

Am I the only one worried?
There is very little chatter about this...
North Korea attacking south Korea, North Korea Having nuclear weapons, China being North Korea's Ally, China significantly improving and expanding their military, China heavily populating their boarders with 3rd world countries with troops, tanks, and missile bases, Japan's complete remodeling of their defense strategy to defend from China rather than Russia, The fact that China has the USA by the balls financially, China's leaked official government statement that they "Believe that the west is rightfully theirs as their ancestors were the first to discover it, before Columbus", The fact that China has over 1,000 Cruise Missiles pointed at Taiwan (US Protectorate) at this very moment, the history of china's aggressive territorial and empire-like nature, NEED I GO ON???

Japan in very concerned, why the hell aren't we?

Eh, the odds are I wouldn't survive WWIII whether it is a nuclear or biological.

I think that it is quite likely, as does one of my older people on my life( in his early 60s) He also says that the war would be here this time. To be frank, I agree and I would fight. I can not fight in the services currently due to health problems else my tail would have already been signed up. However, i figure the government has no right to tell me I can not defend my homeland. If Mr. L is right you can bet your butt I will be fighting.

I recently read a 200 page document from a political analyst (I think you can buy it at Barnes & Nobles, if I remember the name... -_-) stating that by current estimates we will be at war with China no later than 2025. This was released 2 years ago... with the current North Korea situation... I think we are looking a a huge leap closer to today.

What do you propose then and do you agree with Mr. L. and me about the war coming here?

I am not worried about the war. I see no sense in worrying about something that I can't prevent.

I honestly hope it doesn't happen, but if it does, it does.

I think that most certainly part of the war will be fought on US soil, but that will be long after the ALLIED barrier nations (Japan, India, Australia, and Russia.. if they don't screw us over) have fallen on the defensive. China will have it's hands full for at least a couple years... but after Japan falls (and it will) That makes USA the Eastern Front.

i don't know enough about the details to say how likely i think it is.. but no, i'm not very worried. just like i'm not worried about terrorism, or getting hit by a bus or being shot walking down the street. if i lived in fear i'd never leave my house.

..and our dreams will break the boundaries of our fears..

so whom do you think they will declare war on then because far as I can tell usually the country that has war declared on them is where the war starts.

Didn't China say in a Wikileaks document that they're not very approving of North Korea's actions lately?

I have no clue. I am not privy to any details hidden from the public, so all that any of us can go on is speculation based on news articles and recent actions of the countries.

We're not going to war with China. If they attacked us we'd cancel our debt with them and that'd destroy them. Militarily, if they invaded us, our civilian population alone could kick them out.

North korea has a fairly large army, but it's at the WW2 early Soviet level. I.E- ONE MAN CARRIES THE RIFLE, THE OTHERS FOLLOWS. We have a massive military force at the DMZ, and several dozen targets pre designated for airstrike which would be gone in... about 12 hours.

They have also stated that openly in press releases. But when push comes to shove, they are Allies - which coupled with china's interest in expanding it's boarders - would be enough to lead it on a war path (not limited to absorbing North Korea as a Chinese Province) China's motives are very seldom transparent....

I know it's likely in the future, but I tend to not worry about things I can not prevent and that hasn't happened yet. Yes, it's likely. But why worry right now? I have other things to lose sleep over.

This is 2010. We don't need to be firing with weapons and spending large amounts of money on vehicles. World leaders and officials need to all come together and create a massive laser tag arena and hire their best men to play laser tag. The people with the most points obviously win the war. It's inexpensive, it's fun, and most importantly....no one gets hurt.

China has actually discussed turning a blind eye to NK while the US installed a more stable regime. Read them cables again.

That's just asking for the British to take over the world =p (if it's best men vs best men)

But I doubt there'll be a third world war any time soon to be honest.

You're 20, you don't GET a "view of kids these days". You're still basically a kid yourself.

I'd be surprised if it didn't happen to be honest. China WANT a war, North Korea WANT a war, America seem to be preparing for it.

naa im not a kid i was raised by parents who actually raised there kids how they should be raised like back in the 1940's... i actually had to work for everything i owned be it chores or being the mule when my parents needed stuff moved...maturity wise and life experience im about 40

YOU kids today have no sense of respect you believe you have an entitlement to a computer, cellphone, music,tv,books, perfect health.. im sick of seeing that a war would open alot of you kids eyes its not all rainbows and death is a very real part of life.

I'm sorry, there is absolutely nothing wrong with parents giving their children things. I feel sorry for the 8 year old that has to work to get the things he'd like to have. When you're a kid, you should be a kid... But that's a whole different debate.

Besides, the only thing a war would do is piss a bunch of people off, kill a bunch more... and when it's over, guess what? The kids are going to be checking their cell phones and Facebooks. I don't see the potential for any lesson to be taught whatsoever... at least not one where the good outweighs the bad.

I don't see the potential for any lesson to be taught whatsoever... at least not one where the good outweighs the bad.
yes that is for a different debate ill make it in a couple minutes. see ya there..

after every war there is always a slight depression time if that happened maybe it would make kids apreciate and learn to enjoy the little things they have..

You sound like a psychopath, you realise that? You wish there was another world war so that people would place more value in their possessions. Wow. Just, wow.

If North Korea starts a fight, the Chinese won't have their backs. Yes, they've been propping up North Korea, but if it's a choice between letting North Korea fall and starting a fight with the USA (not necessarily a war, either: even imposing trade restrictions would damage Chinese interests more than regime change in North Korea), North Korea goes to the wall. It's clear from the Wikileaks documents that China is decreasingly tolerant of North Korean belligerence. While China is indeed becoming more assertive in South-East Asia, North Korea isn't going to be the flashpoint. If there's a war between China and the USA (something that I still think is unlikely), it won't start until China has a real blue-water navy (which they're working on), and it'll start over Taiwan.

China is growing shitloads faster than the US... yes, but, they still have a lot to go before they can go toe to toe with the states.

If there's a 3rd world war the 4th one will be fought with bows and arrows. I reckon they should just get the leaders to mud wrestle instead.

"I don't care about politics"
Then politics doesn't care about you either. Truth. You've got to make your voice heard, if you want to be listened to. But that's too logical for some people, so let me go a step further. Not making your voice heard, leaves other people free to hijack it by speaking on your behalf, even if they don't actually give a shit about you. That's politics. So, make your voice heard. That's not a quote from anywhere. That's just me.

You know you are on the precipice of greatness when you feel joy, fear, and the butterflies of change all at the same time.

No, it would make them die. There are countless better ways to educate people than a few million deaths.

The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours, and in time our atoms will once again reside amongst the stars. Life is but an idle dalliance of the cosmos, frail, and soon forgotten. We have been set adrift in an ocean whose tides we are only beginning to comprehend and with that maturity has come the realization that we are, at least for now, alone. In that loneliness, it falls to us to shine as brightly as the stars from which we came.
