Another Great Depression? - February 25th 2009, 07:35 PM

I have heard from a lot of people that the stock market is going to crash again. I don't know for sure if this is true. Yet I have been hearing it an awful lot. I'm a Democrat and I actually like Obama, I even voted for him. But I go to school with a bunch of Republicans... and they tell me he is going to do harm, and that there is going to be another depression. I'm not sure what to believe anymore, so... Does anyone have any opinion on the matter? Is America going to go all to hell? Robberies and starvation? Will we lose everything?

We already are in a depression not a recession its used to keep people from being fearful of spending less and less money.

I really think that we are heading into the new Great Depression. Stuff like this has happened before though, and we've gotten out of it. I just hope we can get out of it this time, cuz we're going down fast.

I just hope that the Stimulus package really helps us instead of hurting us.

We were in a recession before Obama. Doesn't matter is McCain had become president, we'd still be in a recession. We haven't reached depression status yet, and hopefully we won;t get there.

I keep wondering that if it's going to happen, how fast things will change. People here are already scared.

The stock market has a pattern of fluctuation; it's done this since it was first created. This is one of the worst dips it's had, but not THE worst. If it crashes, it's not Obama's fault, or the Republicans. It's mainly the fault of greedy investors, backlogged mortgage brokers, irresponsible bankers, and greedy foreclosure groups.

This is not a depression. Please. Things would be much worse then they are now and we will not head into a depression. We're going to be okay. It's just going to take time. I just get pissed alot of the time because people are angry at Obama of all people because they expected the stimulus package to turn everything right around and have a surplus in the economy like in Clinton's days and that's just not going to happen overnight. The guy is only human and I truly believe he's trying his best to fix this mess the last 8 years of bullshit has brought us. Just have faith.

I think it's bad, but not as bad as the media is selling. I also don't expect there to be a surplus because we actually do have to spend for the military. Like Bill Clinton's surplus involved cutting military spending which affected Bush's presidency. Not having enough body armor or ammo was not entirely Bush's presidency's fault.

It's bad but I don't know if it's necessarily a depression per se. Things are definitely bad but I don't think they are as bad as they were during the Great Depression.

Agree, that's all I can really say.

I don't know if we will go into a depression or not. It's possible. I don't have a solid opinion on this to be honest.

we're already down hill fast enough. It's possible it's going to happen. I know Obama has a lot on his hands right now. But i think he can fix it as soon as he can. He's trying his hardest
