Obama to Reverse Restrictions on Stem Cell Work. - March 7th 2009, 05:02 AM

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29554619

What is everyone's opinion?
Personally, I'm stoked for this! Stem Cell research could cure SO many illnesses and such- Diabetes, Cancers, Alzheimer's.. etc. If those embryos were going to be unused anyway.. why not use them to cure illness?

Awesome. Hopefully one of the cures wont mutate and strand Will Smith in Manhattan alone with Frank theMannequin and a dog.

I'm excited for this.

I'm pretty stoked, too! I'm sure JDRF supporters everywhere are rejoicing right now.

I was an Obama supporter during the election, but now I'm just plain in love.

Yes, but simply reversing Bush's restrictions on stem-cell research can be done very quickly and easily. The fact that America is in recession at the moment doesn't mean that all other policies should be postponed until the economy rebounds.

Its not only that. Bush/right wing didn't understand the scientific 'stuff' and didn't want to start trouble, so he just ignored that whole thing!

Not so much "ignored" as "actively sabotaged". I doubt that Obama understands the intricacies of stem-cell research either, he just doesn't have an ideological hatred of science and scientists.

Did he really 'sabotage' if he just blocked all stem cell laws and such from being passed? Enless I missed something.

God, I'm so PUMPED. I started screaming.lol
After I saw 2057 on the television, I was like "that would never happen." via our very slow scientific progress. Eeeeek So excited, it is definately about time.

Hope this doesn't bite us in the butt, though

Blocking all funding to stem cell research sounds exactly like sabotage to me.

Sabotage would be if the stem cell research was about ready to happen when suddenly he breaks in and steals all the cadavers... It wasn't going to happen because the funding was blocked, thus it was just a decision against... not sabotage.
But I definitely disagreed with that decision anyways. I'm stoked to see what kind of cures this research brings.

Sabotage: destroy property or hinder normal operations

Blocking funding is to hinder normal operations and is thence sabotage

It's about time. I'm glad Obama removed the restricts. Maybe now American can start to progress into the future again.

Finally. It's about time.

What I hate about the media is how they keep spreading fear. They haven't shed light on the fact that part of Obama's stimulus package is to help restore our roads and bridges (I'm so glad cause our roads suck) and to upgrade the electrical grid. The right wing complains about all the spending... don't they realize that we're spending on things that need to be fixed?

I'd sing you a song, but I'm feeling quite off
in my heart; it's occupied,

and now's not the time.

Even if they do it will have problem that stem cells are not the answer. Sometimes a experiment that does not work as you had hoped is as important as one that does

Yeah, I'm excited as well. America is already behind in stem research compared to other developed countries...

Yeah, there's a reason why Fox News isn't in that list of trusted news sources at the top of the Current Events and Debates board. The line from wherever Disneyland is to Las Vegas is only one of a number of projects that could bid for infrastructure funding in the stimulus.

Although it would be quite fun...
