Nope and I'm not just saying that because it's my aspiration. Being a sports star takes skill, time for training and effort but it doesn't take years of further education, high possibility of being blamed for malpractice, often being on-call so social/family life is often disrupted, very high risk of being infected with a disease and possibly having to deal with grieving families, etc... . Even a surgeon of any specialty needs extensive training and some surgeries can last past 18 hours (imagine training or playing non-stop for 18 hours, with the only break to go to the washroom, if that). Sports stars do none of that and there's no reason why they get salaries well above other, more important and harder professions.

I understand the high pays and such can help the economy but look what it says at the end of the day: if you want big money and fame, don't spend 8+ years in school, do basket-weaving, a sport that by comparison needs little education.

I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.
