I'm not obese and never have been.
I eat chocolate.
I don't think it's fair!
Chocolate has magnesium in it. It's good for PMS. :P

I would not support a tax on chocolate. Chocolate is something that just about everyone eats. However, I would support a tax on most potato chips. They just aren't cooked in a healthy manner--I don't eat them at all. If you really want to cut out something unhealthy, look at potato chips.

Just curious: Do they tax gym memberships and/or fitness equipment over there?

I would so NOT agree with a tax on chocolate. When a girl is PMSing.. chocolate is her best friend. I eat chocolate and I'm not obese so it wouldn't be fair to me.

They would probably subsidize those things.

Also, if it's okay to up the tax on tobacco why not chocolate? I know that tobacco is totally unhealthy and chocolate is actually good in some ways, but somebody needed to bring it up :P.

This is the thing I find it to be:

Sick of the city, wanting the sea;

Wanting the sticky, salty sweetness
Of the strong wind and shattered spray;
Wanting the loud sound and the soft sound
Of the big surf that breaks all day.

I don't feel sorry for you. Sales taxes where I used to live were 10%. That said, it is kind of silly.

Sales Tax sounds suspiciously similar to Value Added Tax which is currently at 15% (17.5% in 2010)

As Adz pointed out it looks like it is going nowhere anyway.

Don't think it will matter too much, I cannot see Labour winning the next election
