The NFL is a business and as such has the ability to do this. When you bought the ticket, you agreed to it. Nuff said.

Explain to me how it's violating your personal rights? You don't have to go to the stadium. And at worst you'll be asked to leave until you aren't carrying something they don't want in.

Often I lie wide awake, thinking of things I could make.
But I donít seem to have the parts to build them.
I am so scared of what will kill me in the end, for I am not prepared.
I hope I will get the chance to be someone, to be human.

A business can do what ever they want to you, if you agree to it (contract), up to a certain extent.

I think this is a good idea. You have to get pated down at airports, concert venues. What makes an NFL stadium any different? obviously, this guy knew that an illegal stun gun wasn't allowed within the stadium, therefore it's his fault that they're enhancing stadium security, no one else's. They're simply increasing security to help keep fans, players and the like safe during games.

Thorough pat-downs happen at pretty much every concert I go to. It's a small price to pay for the safety they're trying to ensure.

Why not? It keeps everyone safe and takes a maximum of 5 minutes normally.

If you have nothing to hide then what's the problem? It's for safety, not just because they feel like it.
Obviously I don't live in the US, but any stories like this get my full support. They're doing it for safety therefore innocent eople should have no issues with it.

Well you can't 100% ensure safety no matter what you do.

Have you considered the possibility that some people don't like to be touched?

Yes. I don't like being touched because of things in my past, but if I have to for safety then I put up with it. Much as I hate being touched, I'd far rather have a 5 minute pat down and be safe in the knowledge others are having it too to keep me safe.

This is a valid point. Many people have phobias of being touched, whether it's brought on by past memories or just a germ type phobia. However, buying a ticket to a concert or to a sport event, you are legally binding yourself to that. Most tickets or information (via website) do have a disclaimer saying you must be patted down for entrance into the venue. If you have a fear/phobia/dislike of being touched, you should reconsider buying the ticket and/or going to the event in the first place. I know this is unrealistic for the most part, as concerts and going to sports events and other situations like this are part of growing up/the living lifestyle, however, you can't be under the impression they'll allow you entrance without the pat down in the first place. Just because that person has a phobia/fear/dislike of something, doesn't make them any different than regular patrons to said event.

It might seem a bit extreme but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I don't mind a pat down if it helps increase my safety and security and that of others.

me personally, no this wouldn't bother me. its your choice to buy the ticket, and in that you agree to their rules/regulations. secondly i'd rather be safe. if you don't have anything to hide, or your not doing anything wrong i don't see why so bothered by it.

Re: WTF happened to my rights - September 30th 2011, 11:44 PM

ahhhh my rights are being violated
*something goes wrong in stadium*
why haven't they increased security?

that tends to happen a lot now a days, like in the simpsons when they asked for bear patrol (something like that) then complained about the taxes

Your rights are still in tact, they're not abusing anything, I'm.sure they don't want to touch hundreds of bodies everyday as much as you don't like being touched
If your that worried about it, don't go.... and don't complain when they take this measure away and something goes wrong

Hey, guess why i smile a lot... because it's worth it

People who don't want you to think are never your friends.

TSA belongs in the airport not a stadium or street corner.

No where in the article did it mention TSA nor any other federal agency participating in the "pat downs".
