Australian man charged for "mooning" the queen - October 24th 2011, 09:44 PM

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/man-charged...125215795.html

Quote:
A young Australian man has been charged with exposing himself and being a public nuisance as Britain's Queen Elizabeth II passed by, police said Monday.
Tens of thousands of people turned out to see the visiting monarch as she toured the Queensland capital, her first visit since the state was hit by devastating floods which killed more than 30 people in January.
But among the crowd was one man who allegedly exposed himself.
"A 22-year-old man has been charged with wilful exposure and public nuisance," a Queensland Police spokeswoman told AFP, adding that it was "in the vicinity of the procession."
ABC News reported that the man allegedly flashed his buttocks at the queen.
He will appear in court later this month.
The queen is warmly regarded in Australia, a former British colony, though from time to time debate rages about whether ties to the monarchy should be cut and the nation become a republic.
Not being much of a royalist I have to say, this man is my hero.

This guy deserves a medal, ideally given by the queen.

Disrespectful...
Forget her being the Queen she is an old woman I was always thought to respect my elders.

A thrill doesn't hurt as I'm sure she hasn't seen a young bare arse in a while. I wouldn't moon a bunch of elders up close because there's a good chance they'd make their canes brown or use their canes to hit a home-run with my balls. That wouldn't be a thrill for me.

As I consider the Queen no more than a figure-head saturated in inherited riches with no real purpose in our country, and I have no real objection to public nudity, I really couldn't give less of a shit. Just to be frank.

I love this! The only thing the queen does is bring in tourism. Forget her blood, she's just an old lady with a hat fetish! That man is my new role-model

It's amusing, but also pretty daft and as Andrea says it's pretty disrespectful. It's also a pretty dumb thing to get a criminal record for, especially when you bear in mind this is going to come up every time he goes for a job interview or has a criminal records check. That has to get embarrassing after a while...

I made me giggle, can you imagine on his criminal record ' Mooning the queen' and in job interviews ' it says here you have a criminal record could you tell me what its for' and he says ' I mooned the queen' . Apart from the fact its funny and it is probably one of the most amusing things ever to go onto someone's criminal record, he was also disrespectful towards the queen, whether or not he should have been arrested for this is a different matter.
Personally I do not think he should have been arrested and should have just been made to pay a pretty hefty fine and to write a letter of apology to the queen or something along the lines of that. Arresting the man does not seem fair. People in my town get drunk and moon people all the time. It just a guys arse. Yeah he was disrespectful, yes it was the queen yes it also amusing. But come on arresting him seems unfair.

BROKE
the girl who seemed strong
CRUMBLED
the girl who always laughed
CRIED
the girl who never stopped trying finally
GAVE UP

she let her fake smile fade and as she did a tear rolled down her cheek and she whispered

' i can't do this anymore'

Personally, and this is despite my support for the royals, I'd find it offensive to any figurehead, even just prime ministers to be honest.
But living in Brisbane, my first though when I saw this was "ohhh Brissy you so classy" with a giggle

I don't see why it's disrespectful, outside of flashing someone being disrespectful in general.

Why does the Queen deserve more respect than anyone else anyway? Maybe if she'd done something important, other than just being born into the right family...

Oh and this is hilarious btw.

To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget

People seem to have a massive misconception of what the royal family actually do, they don't just sit down on their backsides doing nothing...

In the context of what we're talking about (Australia) it's true. She's just a figurehead. She can come here and 'open' a few hospitals by cutting a ribon but that's it.

Yes the Governer General has some power but it's only to sign off on things, far power less than any politician.

I can't speak for what it's like in the UK but really, I don't see the Royals doing anything of any importance out of stamping their faces on things, considering the amount of actual 'power' they have is very, very minimal.
