They say it's £40,000 a kg, but I'm sure it's higher on the streets from what I hear (I don't use it). So... £50,000 x 40,000kg

£2,000,000,000 in profits spread over the supply chain, given that is also has to be manufactured etc...

Not sure I want to believe it. It's mad.

In the long run drugs are found everyday and smuggled in the UK . Drugs are not always detected as people do go to great lengths to hide them, some people even give a new meaning to the word crack and well you get the idea. The problem is the drugs industry in the UK and all over the world is big business which people make millions out of each day.
The fact this large amount was found is just a tip of the top of the iceberg, it's a start but given the size of the drugs industry drugs will never be completely gone. As long as their are people who are addicted to drugs the dealers will make money and the drugs industry continues, legalising drugs would not help, just make them more readily available.

People will always go to great lengths to smuggle drugs into this country and into other countries, you only need to watch UK border force to see the lengths that people will go to in order to hide and conceal drugs into the UK.

This is simply the tip of the iceberg, drugs are everywhere.

I don't think you can imagine how much 40 tonnes of coke is.

1 gram, usually produces two lines, for any person, and that's more than enough for one evening. Given that a very small % of the population are actually addicts... I dono where the stats are dont have time to find them.... 40 tonnes really does make a change. Especially that a lot of street dealers mix the stuff with other crap like paracetamol, to boost their own profits... so essentially you could exaggerate and say 50 to 60 tonnes even.

Let's assume that 1% of the population are addicts and do this 4 times a week. 1% of I guess 60 million people is 600,000 (that's already too many crack addicts) 2 gramms lasts a week then (2 lines from each gram) per person.

It's enough coke to last approx. 40 weeks. I'd say way more, because I think I'm over estimating there being as many as 600,000 coke addicts. That's crazy.


There is an argument that taking such a huge amount off the streets only means that there is more opportunity open for other drug lords, rivals of those arrested and charged.

Honestly, I was underestimating. I wouldn't be surprised if that load of coke was worth well over a billion dollars. It's crazy how coke is worth more the its weight in gold, but thats economics for you. lol
