I trust this man, and hope he manages to do a good job of this purchase. What the government has made of it, and his purchase of Northern Rock are two slightly different topics, so don't shift the blame from one to the other. He got a good deal, the government got a bad deal, it's the government's fault, not his. If you've got some spare time, read this:

Pretty abysmal performance by the Government in negotiating a price (no suprises there...), but I agree that he is a good pair of hands to have in charge of it. Hopefully he can build it back up to its better days and shake up the market a bit, and more importantly not repeat the mistakes of his predecessors.
