Things about 2012 non-believers don't want to hear - November 18th 2011, 11:15 PM

http://2012-survival-guide.com/?vsa=y

I don't claim to be a believer or anything, I just found some if the things in this video skind of interesting and kind of disturbing... thought I'd share.

There is some crazy stuff goin down about 2012, governments worldwide are scrambling to prepare for the disaster (that may or may not come). But if they really didn't know, would they spend so much time and money to create special vaults for people and even plants and animals to survive the disaster?

Feel free to give your opinions. BE NICE TO EVERYONE PLEASE!!!

I don't believe in any of the 2012 hype. Just like the earth continues to exist even when we reach December 31st on the calendar, the earth will continue to exist even when the Mayan calendar runs out.

I'll be alive in 2013. I'm not sure whether people honestly believe in the whole 'AHHH 2012' stuff

Ha the world was supposed to end this year in May too. And guess what ? We're still here, unless of course the world has ended and we just have not realised !

Well done advertising at least, they appealed to a non-Liberal demographic, praising NASA, poking fun at Obama, etc.

-Take that back, the video was like *Pseudoscience, NASA Quote, Pseudoscience, Poke Fun at Liberals, Pseudoscience, BUY MY BOOK OR DIE IN ARMAGEDDON!!!*

I do find the whole 2012 thing to be a huge joke, That why I'm going to be throwing a post apocalyptic party on January 1st 2013.

Exactly!

Of course, it's possible that the rapture/beginning of the end of the world will happen before then or in 2012- but if it does, that would be a huge coincidence and would have nothing to do with the Mayan calendar. The Mayans couldn't keep writting forever; they had to stop somewhere. No human has the power to predict the end of the world.

I'm amazed someone hasn't looked at the conventional calenders used and freaked out over the fact any given month ends on a certain day, surely that'd spell disaster.

The movie on the website was awful, it made me think the narrator was sitting in a wooden shack with tin-foil wrapped around their head spewing endless "what if" situations based on a bunch of numbers.

The whole thing is a joke because when some crack-pot says, "Oh Lawwdddy, the world is gonna end tomorraw" but it doesn't and they look like the fool they are, they either give another random date or some other crack-pot comes around to give their predicted date the world will end. If the world will end on a given day, what's the point in trying to freak everyone out about it? After all, they cant applaud the person for being correct because they'll be dead, so why cant these people take off their tin-foil hats and focus on living rather than projecting random dates. Very odd people.

Out of all the recent projected dates, the only one that had a hint of rationale was the Y2K bug because computers may go a bit screwy with dates but that's not a huge problem, easy to fix.

It may or may not happen. There little any of us can honestly do to predict it. Nothing I can do about it... so I'll just keep going as I am and if things do crap out in 2012 then I'll deal with it the best as I can then, just like most things when they screw up.

I'm inclined to believe it won't happen. On top of it, the whole video is quite obviously an advertising stunt.

It makes me incredibly frustrated that people keep claiming the world will end on a specific date. For one thing, so what if it is? You can't do anything about it. There's not stopping it. As far as religious people go, for one thing, it's like that pastor incident all over again when he said revelations would happen in what, May? If these people knew their Bible, they would know that NO ONE will truly know when the world will end. Again, that's me being frustrated with so-called religious people. Not starting a debate as far as science goes predicting all that crap.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe in that stuff at all. Trust me, if we had good, SOLID scientific proof of the events that will supposedly happen in 2012, all of these technology innovation projects and infastructure projects (highways, transit, etc.) wouldn't be happening because it would all be pointless.

Yeah, not going to happen. The world is supposed to end because someone decided to stop making a calender? I also read that the person who originally read the calender said he made a mistake, and that it was not meant to affect the whole world, just the Mayan people.

Classic.

But yeah, when the descendents of the Mayans themselves say it's bogus I think it's fair to say it's bogus. In any event, if the world does end in 2012 it's not as if there's a lot we can do about it - it'll end when it ends and won't give a damn about us when it does.

I don't remember why, but once I asked my mom if she believed in that and she just told me "in 1970s they said the world would end. Nothing happened. In 2000 they said the world would end. Nothing happened. They said in 2012 the world would end. Why would this year be different?".

I think the end of the world won't happen in 2012. My mom told me that scientists think it will be the end of an era, but no world will end. I believe that.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous fountains of pseudoscience and ultra-conservative bullshit I've seen in a while. He's right (vaguely) about the theory concerning the solar 'conveyor belts', but you won't find a single document by any scientist asserting predictions supporting 2012 apocalypse hypotheses. The man who made this video spent more time talking about natural terrestrial disasters than he did about disasters caused by solar events, and yet he still continues to repeat, "I'm not trying to scare you."

Quote:
"You and your family may have to survive the equivalent of one hundred million (100,000,000) hydrogen bombs being thrown at the earth."
[citation needed]

He continually criticizes liberals in between his dramatic tirades about the strength of recent natural disasters, and claims that said liberals put us in a "sad state". If this isn't clear as one of his motifs, I don't know what is.

Oh, wow...and guess what - you can ensure survival 2012's big disaster by purchasing this ass's book for only $49.97!!!!1!! "It can be the difference between a long, healthy life, and a slow, painful death."

I couldn't get past that point. My capacity for utter bullshit today has been reached.

Yeah. I definitely face-palmed to this as well. I listened for half a second, then closed the tab. It even made me confirm I had to leave. Wish there was a 'Fuck Yeah" button instead of just a simple Yes. I'll be here in 2013, laughing at those who believed in the whole 'The world is going to end in 2012' BS

Re: Things about 2012 non-believers don't want to hear - November 21st 2011, 06:52 PM

There was a period in my life where I believed that the world was going to end in 2012. However, that was also when I just wanted to die. To be brutally honest, I truly believe that the people who think that the world is going to end in 2012 are really just the people who want the world to end. If you're hoping the world will end, then nature will take you out of your "pain and misery" instead of you doing your own dirty work. If people honestly have that state of mind, then I believe that they should just quit their jobs and/or quit school, travel the world as a homeless person, have sex with other homeless people, and anything else that you'd be willing to do before you die (providing it was legal) because when the world DOESN'T end and they realized that they wasted all the time fucking up their lives just because of evidence that may be inaccurate and misinterpreted, then that's where, I think, people learn to pull their head out of their own asses.

What if I'm wrong? Well, it's not like they can come up to me and say "Brandon, you're an asshole and you're wrong." By that time, I may be in Heaven and having an orgy with my girlfriend and virgin angels and I'll be like "wanna join?" If I'm right that the world won't end, I'll be like other people in this thread...I'll start posting shit on the internet and go around wearing a shirt that says "The end of the world. Never forget."

I ain't scurred.

On December 21, 2012 I’m going to some Indian resorts close to where I live to wait for the ending. Hopefully I can see the natural phenomena and some Mayas when they come back and take us with them. That's my survival plan, if anyone wants to join me PM me.
