Welfare systems are a fucking joke in some states, nothing is verified. Jersey is the worst, my brother lived in a studio apartment and lived off government aid for a whole year, simply because he could get way more from that, than he could if he was working full time at above minimum wage. It honestly astounds me why people want to put more money into such a wasteful system. Good to know your money is being sent to people who really need it.

It's times like these that get me thinking that sterilizing some people is the way forward.

Simple answer: get them to pay back every penny (or cent) they claimed, and if they refuse declare them bankrupt and seize their assets as a creditor. Sounds a bit brutal perhaps, but it'd certainly make them think twice about fiddling the paperwork. In the first reported case this is the most likely outcome anyway. Bottom line is, welfare is for people who actually need it, not those who want to recoup some of their tax dollars.

On the subject of the woman in that video, I find her attitude distasteful but to be honest the same can be said of a lot of people in this world and I wouldn't advocate sterilising them either. What was really needed was for the state welfare agencies to be more proactive and try to prevent this situation arising in the first place - it's hardly a cakewalk, granted, but I do genuinely believe that the various welfare systems seem to be geared up for "firefighting" rather than actually improving overall standards and quality of life. It seems to be far too reactive in that regard. But I digress. Unfortunately this woman seems to be self-destructing in a number of ways and the state is picking up the pieces, which isn't fair on the state or her children but you do have to ask how it was allowed to get to this stage in the first place.
