Minnesota Incest Prank

Minnesota's Rosemount High had an awesome idea for a prank at this year's winter pep rally. Just awesome: blindfold all the sports captains and have them make out with people. And the "prank" part is that they're making out with their parents. Who aren't blindfolded.

Well, there's a couple things to consider before jumping on the "INCEST!" wagon. First off, we are always children to our parents regardless of our ages. Our parents are the people who changed our diapers, put our clothes on, tied our shoes, took us to the doctor...they have done everything in their power to raise us. Hell, my mom has seen me nude even when I was like 11-12 years old. If a mother is willing to literally wipe shit off your ass, then a mother/father would be willing to "make out" (which didn't even look like making out to me) with their kids as a joke. When the people are blindfolded, they don't know what is going on. If a parent is willing to kiss their own kid in front of a large audience that is laughing at them, then they understand their actions; however, a father making out with a daughter in a casual occasion is a different story. Learn to take a joke people. It's kissing...not oral sex.

Honestly, any person willing to kiss another random person probably doesn't care who they're kissing... if you were willing to kiss anyone at all, I don't think you would be violated if it were your parents. Your parents saw you naked, they've cleaned crap off your ass. It's only kissing, it's not like they're molesting their kid, which sadly happens quite often. The people laughing at this are anxious. They don't actually find this funny. Just saying, a little psychological advice from psychology. And I'm totally quoting my counsellor, I laughed because someone hurt themselves, but I didn't actually find it funny, and she explained that I was anxious.

I have mixed feelings about this, I find this incredibly disgusting and manipulative. At the same time, though, they didn't know who they'd be kissing! I would be less disgusted if it were their cousin or sibling, because that's amusing to place cousins/siblings in awkward positions. But fillial relations? No fucking way. Just no.

Seems like a bit of an OTT prank to have students make out with people in general. Contradicts the other threads you see around here about students getting banned for giving one another hugs or whatever. The parent part makes it worse, but I can't imagine ever wanting to take part in a blindfolding game with people I don't trust.

Irrespective of whether you consider that incest or not, or a prank, that's a pretty fucked-up thing to be doing with your children or anyone else their age. It's definitely a pretty fucked-up thing for a school to be organising and I would be surprised if the principal (who, from other reports, seems to actually be defending it as much as apologising) is still in his job this time next year.

My senior year of high school, we blindfolded the seniors on the football team, and the senior cheerleaders kissed the guys, but when they took the blindfolds off their moms would be standing in front of them, not the cheerleaders.

It's really not a big deal. Not sure why people are making it one. Not like anyone died or the parents had sex with the kids.

There is a difference between making someone look as if they've kissed their parents full-on and making someone actually kiss their parents full-on. The former is embarrassing but potentially amusing, the latter is pretty gross - particularly if, as one mother did in the video, you make your own child grab your ass. That enters the realm of sexual intimacy, and in this case that is bordering on incest and that is why people are less than impressed with this.

A school to organise blind-folded, almost compulsory kissing of any kind, is wrong. Not going to argue that. And I personally would hate to have found out that I've kissed my parents, because it is icky. At the same time, it's only going to be humiliating to an extent in that school, as the whole school are in on it, and they are the popular kids. Their lives are not going to be ruined, and within a short amount of time they'll be over it.

So yes, not appropriate, but not the end of the world.

Rape is generally defined as penetrative sex. One could count kissing as sexual assault/harrassment, but not rape. Rape is an implication of sex, these people weren't even heavy petting. Again right or wrong it wasn't sex.

Looking on the internet, there isn't really such things as statutory kissing. Its like dating. Pretty much legal at any age. Also, these people are seniors, aren't they? The age of consent there is 16, so I'm sure they are above that, and its kissing.

So yes, in conclusion, I feel bad for those kids, I wouldn't want it to happen to me. I don't know what the school was thinking. But life will go on.

Its not like the parents were being abusive. So the main moral issue with parents-child incest isn't even present. The only thing present is our general cringe factor.

I don't think you're understanding the point I'm trying to make about the relationship between parents and children. Let me reiterate the point I made about parents considering you a child. Your parent(s) most likely consider you "their child" even though you may be a teenager. If they had to, your parent(s) would still wipe your ass. Some parents still do. My uncle had security cameras installed in all his rooms in the house (including bathrooms) because his daughter had a condition that would result in her having spasm attacks. No, you don't want to watch your daughter take a shower or use the restroom, but a parent is willing to go beyond the social norms by taking care of the ones they love. If you don't need help doing something, a parent isn't going to help you. But if you do, even if it's not socially acceptable, they might just help you...whether it's helping you take a shower at 17 years old or whatever. If a parent consents to helping play a practical joke on his/her son/daughter by "making out" with them in front of an audience, then that isn't anything compared to what they HAVE done in the past. You know what would be worse? What if you had a daughter and you found out that they were playing a practical joke and the PRINCIPAL kissed her? But if you were to kiss your daughter (which you probably will do at some point during your parenthood), then the issue would be between your daughter and you...not an issue with the school, or anything else. It's not a big issue because the parents were the ones...not school officials.

I don't understand where you get the idea that we ARE saying it's okay. Just because we say it's not a big deal doesn't mean that it's nothing. We are saying it's a slight situation, that's understandable, but it's nothing serious.

I'd feel the same way I felt when I first saw my mom naked for the first time...I was mortified. 8 years later, however, I can look back and laugh about how I felt because my mom is my mom...if she were to make out with me when I'd be blind-folded, I essentially set myself up because I would never kiss someone without knowing who I'm kissing. Not knowing who I'd kiss is setting someone up for a...dare I say it...practical joke.

Of course I'm going to kiss my child, I'm not going to make out with them. Helping your child , sure. As with your uncle it's perfectly understandable. Her health was at risk if he didn't do it. However to pull a practical joke by have a mother make out with her son, or father make out with his daughter, and we're not talking about a simple peck on the cheek, it's real making out.
