Have to admit there's a certain irony that I'm posting about this rather than any of our resident atheists, but such is life:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16212418 I'm the first to admit that I disagreed vehemently with a lot of what he said, particularly about religion (on which I felt at times he completely lost the plot). However, having read his obituary I cannot fault his determination or his skill as a writer, and if nothing else he has challenged me to bolster my own opinions on a range of topics. Never heard of him before today. After reading this article, I think I'll do more research on him.

An irreplaceable, respected member of all modern atheist and secular movements, as well as a passionate and skilled writer and speaker.
