Question Gateway philosophy - December 7th 2014, 01:13 AM

In drugs there's a gateway
In self harm there's a gate way
And even in wisdom there's a gate way
So my question....

so what's our minds eye gate way? Or what's the gateway of life?

There's a beginning to everything
We just don't always know what that beginning is.
And that unknown is my gateway
I want to open every gateway see what can't be seen
And do what can't be done.

or maybe I'm just crazy

Re: Gateway philosophy - December 7th 2014, 06:09 PM

You're post really sparked my interest. So I think I will put my two cents in.
The gateway of life..
I feel the first gateway is being born into this world. From that point on there are multiple gateways opening and closing as we grow and develop. As we grow older, we begin to choose which gateways to go through, which to avoid, which to hide from. We begin building our own gateways. To goals and desires we feel we need to pursue. We follow others on their journeys, through gates we never imagined. We lock ourselves in small areas we deem safe. Comforting. Though there is always a gate to go through, sometimes we ignore it. Some of us keep the gates closed, not wanting to know what it may lead to. But the thing is, life is only lived outside of our comfort zone.
I believe life is an endless journey of growth and knowledge. There is no definite beginning, and there is no definite end.

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind donít matter and those who matter donít mind.

"Live your life and risk it all
take some chances, take the fall
take your time, no need to hurry
have some fun, and never worry ♥"

Re: Gateway philosophy - December 7th 2014, 07:31 PM

This is a really interesting thread and although I haven't thought about it too long I thought I'd reply

This gateway idea is, to me anyway, in direct contrast to the labyrinth idea expressed in 'Looking for Alaska' (if you haven't read it, do! ). As opposed to life being a labyrinth of suffering we need to figure out how to escape, maybe life is a gateway or series of gateways we need to explore. Maybe we're not in a maze that needs to be figured out but one that needs to be created ourselves by our choices and interactions. I think there is a definite beginning and end (birth and death) but that doesn't, and shouldn't, diminish or remove the interest of those who wish to discover and appreciate the possibilities that are borne from exploring individual gateways.

I definitely don't think you're crazy, and even if you were, normal is boring

And if you're scared of the future tonight, we'll just take it each hour one at a time
