Buddhism - November 11th 2016, 03:58 PM

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had good resources on Buddhism (any type). I've been looking to adopt some practices (minus the spirituality aspects) for health reasons, and I'm hard pressed to find anything that's great on the subject. I really am interested in some of the basic practices/core beliefs, but I want to avoid any sort of spirituality associated with it. That is, I'm more interested in it as a philosophy that's compatible with a scientific world view.

I'm Buddhist and have to say I can't really supply you with core beliefs if you don't want any spirituality attached to it. Buddhism is a spiritual practice. Could you perhaps be a little specific on what you are looking for? Are you looking to get into mindfulness or meditation?
As an introduction, Buddhism essentially focuses on the human spirit and how powerful the mind can be and how it affects our reality. Buddhism says that life is suffering, but there is a cause and an end. Here is a Basic Guide which is what I started with. Hopefully that helps you out some.

And here you are living, despite it all.

Maybe you're looking more for Zen Buddhism? I wish I could remember that book my sister used to have back when she was in high school (so 2006ish).
