If you are religious... - March 22nd 2010, 07:05 PM

What religion do you classify yourself as? If you don't classify yourself as anything, what are your beliefs?

What daily rituals, prayers, etc. do you do each day/week/month?

There is always hope. PM me anytime.

I'm a Christian and I believe in God. I don't believe in religion, but a healthy relationship with God. Christian Religion is very ritualistic and repetitive. While I attend church regularly, I expand my relationship beyond the church walls.

Roman Catholic. I try to talk to God every day, I go to church on sundays, and I occasionally read the Bible and meditate.

Re: If you are religious... - March 23rd 2010, 09:05 PM

I'm a Christian. I have a jumper with something written on the back, someone said on Saturday that it's the gospel in 18 words... "God loves me. I have sinned. Jesus died for me. I need to decide to live for God." (4points.com) I think that pretty much sums it up. I believe what happened in the bible was true and that it is vital to building our relationships with God, as praying is important.

I pray quite often just as i'm walking around places and I don't spend as much time on my own with God as I would like. I'm trying a prayer diary but I'm kinda failing I go to church every Sunday but I generally find it more beneficial building my relationship through random times in the day rather than a specific time or anything.

Take care.

You have to have the negative things in life
to be able to appreciate the positives.

I believe in...Monotheism? I don't know what you call it, but I believe in God...but I totally disregard the Bible. I believe that God is the superior being. Sounds ordinary enough. However, I also believe that there's only a Heaven...and Heaven is like an endless hotel for each family. It's like a city of hotels. Everyone gets their own room, but the stuff you have in your room depends on how many bad things you've done that's wrong according to society (like murder, rape, etc). So if you're an axe murderer, you'll have a bed and that's pretty much it.

There's a lot of minor details, but the last thing is that Heaven is far away in the solar system that's unreachable. When you die, your soul flies to that planet. Pretty absurd belief, but I actually feel that religion isn't as strict as it should be. If I go to church, it doesn't interfere with my beliefs, I'm not obligated to pray even though I pray every now and then, and Heaven is something that I look forward to when I grow old.

I'm not all that religious anymore, but i still believe that much.
I haven't been to church in a bit, because I've been in the hospital but i used to go every Sunday.

I'm Catholic, so I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins.
I haven't been to church in so long, and I don't pray as much as I used to. I used to go to a Catholic school so it was easier to get involved. But now I find it harder to get into my faith as much as I used to.
I do believe in God still, though.

Re: If you are religious... - March 26th 2010, 08:51 AM

I'm not particually religious myself, but I do believe in a "Higher Being" beit a God, the Divine ... whatever you want to call it.

I try to live my life by five simple precepts;

Just for today I will:
not anger
not worry
Respect my Parents, Teachers and Elders (or my own view on this be grateful for all those in my life)
Respect all living creatures (that means no killing spiders/flies etc!)
Do my work honestly

On top of that I like to try and live by some of the Tibetan and Wiccan believes too ...
Everything is connected by energy,
That anything could have been related to you in a previous (or even could be in the next) life

What do I do? Recite the five precepts (principles) daily and I try to take time out to meditate for a few minutes everyday ... but that doesn't happen all that often - I aim for 2 or 3 times a week ....
If things are tough, I'll pop along to my local church for a bit of prayer (makes me feel that little bit closer to the Divine)
I also try not to put value on material items ... if the world were to end tomorrow and I wouldn't be able to use it ... It's not all that important.
Oh and one important thing - I surround myself with the people and pets I love and care about.

So much for that idea ...
