Jehova's Witnesses and heaven - May 24th 2011, 04:47 AM

So, I realized something a few minutes ago.

Jehova's Witnesses believe that only 144,000 people are going to get into heaven.

I checked the inter webs, and there are an estimated 7.4 million Jehova's currently in the world.

So I have to ask, how is that going to work exactly?

Often I lie wide awake, thinking of things I could make.
But I don’t seem to have the parts to build them.
I am so scared of what will kill me in the end, for I am not prepared.
I hope I will get the chance to be someone, to be human.

The same attitudes and personalities that turn up in "mine is bigger than yours" will probably appear here, albeit as "My faith is greater than yours". In any case, I think it's hilarious.

It's like a company that hires 10,000 workers but only pays a couple dozen of them.

I've had dealing with Jehova's before. I find many things they do questionable (They are not christain but many claim to be.) anyway, they believe that the kindest and best people go to heaven. The rest live outside of heaven in a slightly less awesome place. People in heaven can visit those outside as well, but they will reside at God's side. It really is that simple.

I think that those spots are already filled... Fredrick banting, Martin Luther King Jr, Ghandi... I mean with all those great people who have done great things, your chances are pretty slim.

They try to be the best possible people they can be and be the perfect worshippers so they are better than the other Jehova's witnesses... they also believe that you can not be in heaven straight away but go after a time when you deserve to go and someone else gets kicked out of heaven... Personally I'm not a Jehova's witness... but my cousins used to be... they never got santa! its kind of depressing...

Zapparappa: And no birthdays. I guess it's sad, but it's religion. I respect them for giving up such things for religion, even though I am not Jehova, I must admit I respect them.

My mom is a jahova witness. its a very complex religion and it me it makes no sense. She is very sensitive about it and will get defensive. She claims to still be a christan though which makes no sense since she says they dont believe jesus has been born yet, thus why they dont celebrate christmas or birthdays or any of the sort. its against their religion. ive always tried to wear a cross, but she freaks and says its gross. fantasy books and movies are the work of satan and stuff. things are very complicated and tough. when i was little she never would celebrate these holidays with me. at the time when my dad was around he did it all himself so i wouldnt miss out. its a sad and touchy subject. as for the answer to your question i dont know. id ask my mom but shed get mad at think i was trying to make fun of her instead of just trying go understand. have you tried googling it? xD

144000 people is a mistranslation; it actually says 144000 families.

Nah, just kidding. Bible battles it is!

The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours and in time our atoms will return once again to reside amongst the stars. Life is but an idle dalliance of the cosmos, frail, and soon forgotten. We have been set adrift in an ocean whose tides we are only beginning to comprehend, and with that maturity has come the realization that we are, at least for now, alone. In that loneliness, it falls to us to shine as brightly as the stars from which we came.
