dreams -
May 26th 2011, 09:32 AM
Lately I've been having the same dream. (And by lately i mean the better part of the last 2-3 years) Well moreso about the same person. But its a person I've never met. So my question to everyone is, do you believe in dreaming of people or events before you meet them or they happen ect?

I dream about things that have happened in the past frequently enough... although just once it was different.
I was 7 years old, and it was one day before mother's day. I had a dream that night where I got hit in the jaw with something, and got knocked to the ground after. It was a dream so honestly, I didn't remember much more. The next day there was a school mother's day event, but afterwards my mum left me to play on the swings. I was standing in front of one, and another kid let it go from a height (by accident) and sure enough it hit me full on in the middle of my chin and threw me back on the the ground. It was a proper, heavy iron swing, not even hanging by a chain, but by two metal poles somehow hinged onto the frame. It didn't break my jaw, which shocked everyone, but I had a huge scar for at least a month I think. When it happened I was amazed, because it felt like it was exactly like my dream the night before. Of course aged 7, I started thinking I'm some sort of superman shit or something. Now I think it was crazy coincidence. Nothing like it has ever happened again. I don't put any value in dreaming something will happen before it does happen. I've never had it happen to me where I didn't know some of it was going to happen before I dreamed it, such as knowing I had a math test with a few hot girls in the class but still needed to study. In the dream, I wrote the test, somehow got it graded back very fast (got an A) and after some bizarre events, it turned into a quick threesome but then got more fucked up. Needless to say, when I wrote the test, I ended up getting an A but nothing with the hot girls happened. This has happened to me numerous times for different things but I've always known about some content of the dream because I knew in real-life, that particular event was scheduled to happen.
I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

I don't know. I don't understand it, and I feel ignorant admitting it, however, I record my dreams to encourage my writing, and I've had things happen in dreams that have taken place several months after the dream. Not EXACTLY as the dream, but I say close enough. But I wouldn't bet on it.
"Daniel broke the kings decree, Peter stepped from the ship to the sea, there was hope for Job like a cut down tree... I hope that there's such hope for me... Blind as I've become, I used to wonder where you were. These days I can't find where You're not. Mine's been a yard carefully surface tended, foxes burrowed underground. Gardening so highly self-recommended, what could I have done but let You down? The sun and the moon, I want to see both worlds as one." -Aaron Weiss, mewithoutYou

I believe that dreams are a reflection of memories that have been stirred up in one way or another in the course of the previous day, trying to resettle themselves. Dreams give the brain a perspective of generally unrealistic proportion; something beyond our usual considerations. Because of this, we often dismiss them just as quickly, and our brain forgets them.
When we get the feeling of deja vu from a dream, I believe it's simply a recollection of a similar event occurring. The mind interprets it as repetition or a dream predicting an event. However, dreams are often so vague that this illusion can be very strong in retrospect. Don't disregard dreams, but don't take them all too seriously either. I believe dreaming serves a purpose, but to use our dreams as guidance seems rather foolish and dangerous. We will ask nothing. We will demand nothing. We will take. No, I don't.
My basis for this is something I read. You may not have met this person but your mind might have. Perhaps it was a random person in the street one day and their face got stored into your subconscious/unconscious. In fact, I read that a lot of the people we see in our dreams are people we've actually seen in real life, we just don't recognise them. ![]() |

I don't know about other things you might have dreamt off. My point was that if you dream of something, you're more inclined to make it come true in the near future, assuming the dream was realistic enough. If you've got some spare time, read this:

I think dreams are a state of your own subconscious with a mixture of your feelings and the way you perceive things in the real world. Therefore, it creates this illusion that what you're seeing is something important or something you should know. As far as this dream reoccurring, it could be because you've been feeling this way for a long time.
