This "Pledge of Allegiance" in and of itself is absolutely ridiculous. Apparently, according to this little...whatever it's called, it's bad to learn about condoms and proper sexual protection, it's wrong for people to explore religions other than Christianity, and having sex before marriage is wrong.
You are allowed to have your religion, wear religious jewlery to school, the only thing you can't do is preach about it. Is that really so hard? Maybe he's expiriencing such discrimination becuase people are tired of hearing about how they'll go to Hell unless they accept Jesus. Satanism is not a white light religion; it is a religion of the flesh, the mundane, the carnal - all of which are ruled by Satan, the personification of the Left Hand Path.

What cretinous shit.
The "individuality" this student brings to mention applies to an acceptance of diversity, something of which secularism promotes. Obviously this "author" has no regard for people that don't follow the same religion as they do. This thread realy has given me an insight into the epitome of stupidity. There's nothing wrong with a student or teacher praying in a public classroom. However, having a student or teacher lead a class-wide prayer or strongly encourage/demand other students to participate is illegal. Even though the United States is a Christian majority, it also has freedom of religion that extend to preventing the government (public schools included) from promoting any given religious leaning.
Most of that "poem" is complete and utter rubbish. "Right" and "wrong" are excruciatingly subjective; therefore, even with a religious definition placed upon them they're still liable to be up to interpretation and argument among people who have a general consensus on faith. Furthermore, mention of "witchcraft" and "totem poles" raises some questions about promotion of bigotry and self-assigned superiority in the words of the author. As for the real U.S. Pledge of Allegiance, it's still a legal mandate here for it to be said out loud for the entire school at the beginning of every school day. I hate to sound so starkly unpatriotic, but doing that in a public school is unconstitutional in itself, because the words "Under God" may suggest promotion of a single given faith by the government. I could pick it apart piece by piece if I wanted to, but it's 2:15 in the morning and I'm just too damn tired right now.

To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. I'm amazed this kind of thing is still going on. Even the goddmn bible tells Christians to shut up and not pray in public.
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Matthew 6:5-6 How can you argue with that? </thread>
The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours and in time our atoms will return once again to reside amongst the stars. Life is but an idle dalliance of the cosmos, frail, and soon forgotten. We have been set adrift in an ocean whose tides we are only beginning to comprehend, and with that maturity has come the realization that we are, at least for now, alone. In that loneliness, it falls to us to shine as brightly as the stars from which we came.

On the subject of that little poem up there, I say this: Curse you, dumbass idiot you wrote the damn thing. I wear black for the most part, I have blue in my hair, I dream of having my lip pierced and tattoos on my back, I'm bi, and I'm not a Christian. And I hold you liable, because you're an idiot for telling me I'm wrong to be the way I am, and accusing me and my people -- meaning everyone else out there who's not afraid to be different -- of being evil and cruel to your jerkface idiot friends who think they know everything.
Oh, yeah, and at least we have the good sense to use condoms and birth control. And the religion that worships totem poles is far older than the Christian religion. And witchcraft, from what I've read on it, is far older than either of them. So. I believe I've voiced my opinion on this, well enough. Oh, and Ball&Chain, your post made me laugh. ![]() Quote:

All of this argument is complete and utter bullshit. Sythan, I apologize to you for any insults I might have 'thrown' at you while I was rampaging. Also, I don't personally have a problem with most of the things that were in that damned poem in the first place. Eldora, I wear mostly black, have died my hair in the past, am a stoner, and apparently I'm very good at making an ass of myself for no apparent reason. So please, don't think that I'm pointing a finger at the people that fit into the categories that are mentioned in the horrible little thing that I posted. I didn't mean for any of this dumb shit to go down, nor did I intend to make everyone have reason to believe that I'm an unreasonable, self centered idiot that doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut. I apologize to those who are and have been offended by my stupidity and hope that you can all give me another chance instead of continuing with the idea that I'm a fucking dipshit. I made a mistake. I realized it, apologized, etc.... it's done with.

See, I like hypocrisy, but this takes the cake.
I think the student that wrote this is without two pieces of common sense to rub together. His freedom to write such an expression goes against everything he expresses. "Today, we will send thirty billion emails; we will send nineteen billion text messages... And we'll still feel alone."
