I admit that I made "I get a lot of guff from atheists" while I was angry at people I knew in real life, and I think to some extent I started it when I began arguing with MonsterCosmonaut's response. As it went further down the line, my argument had some holes in it, but I think you guys know what I was getting at. But I can see where it's obvious that a topic like this would spur angry responses.
Also, I want it to be clear that I wasn't trying to bash anyone. I can see where what I said might have been upsetting or sounded like I was saying I thought atheists were jerks; I don't, even some of the people who have given me grief are fine, this just seems to be an area where people are bound to fight.
QuantumModulus, I'm sorry I called you a douchebag in a roundabout way, that was immature... I'm sure you're not. Well, I wouldn't know, as I don't know you personally, but your opinions are your opinions. and I'm sorry for giving you less than satisfying responses. As you mentioned, I pretty much rambled about the same thing, because that's really the only thing I was interested in; responses to you should have been more direct to the topics you were broaching, if I was going to bother responding. It's never a good idea to enter a discussion like this with issues from others, uninvolved in the discussion, as some of the things I felt necessary to say weren't relevant once the conversation evolved.
