Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I'm not actually religious, so I hope you don't mind that I'm posting! Although I haven't read the bible, I do know a few bits here and there because I went to a semi religious school. For some reason ever since I heard this verse it stayed with me. I think it's absolutely beautiful. I don't think about it in a religious sense, but it carries other personal meaning for me

1 Peter 1:17-19 (NIV)

17 Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

This says our salvation isn't in something that's perishable. It's in something that can't be destroyed or shaken.

Mine is the birth of human knowledge:

"Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”

“You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it." --Genesis 3:1-6

The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours and in time our atoms will return once again to reside amongst the stars. Life is but an idle dalliance of the cosmos, frail, and soon forgotten. We have been set adrift in an ocean whose tides we are only beginning to comprehend, and with that maturity has come the realization that we are, at least for now, alone. In that loneliness, it falls to us to shine as brightly as the stars from which we came.

"For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him." (Leviticus 20:9)

I personally love this one. Though Xujhan's is pretty good too.

My favorite is a bit inappropriate (you can look it up in Ezekiel 23)...but this one is quite illuminating as well:

"Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ." (Ephesians 6:5)

Nu 23:22 - God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.

Nu 24:8 - God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.

Job 39:9 - Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?

Job 39:10 - Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

Ps 29:6 - He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.

Ps 92:10 - But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

I love unicorns.

The entirety of Psalms 23.

Quote:
23:1 A Psalm of David. the Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.

23:3 He restoreth my soul; He guideth me in straight paths for His name's sake.

23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.

23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

I myself am not a Christian, but my grandmother taught me to recite it by heart when I was younger, and it was my great-grandpa Harry's favorite passage.

Re: Whats Your fav bible verse ? - August 16th 2011, 03:23 PM

It's ironic to me that everyone quotes the golden rule, and some even try to live by it. Yet, no offense to the poster, Christ was being cynical. It is nothing to, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." This is similar to, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." Rather, the golden rule should be, "Do unto others regardless of what they do unto you." Christ was solely being cynical to His hearers. Though, maybe it is still your favorite verse.

At any rate, mine is from John 8:

3The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 4they said to him, "Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?" 6This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her." 8And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. 9But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10Jesus stood up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" 11She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more."

I have lots that I love but these are two that might help

1 John 3v1 - How great is the love the Lord has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are. For the reason the world does not know us is that it does not know Him.

Deuteronomy 33v27 - The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

I love those two
