How do you pray? -
August 31st 2011, 02:25 AM
Just curious, how do you pray? When do you pray? Do you say it out loud?

A prayer is simply a conversation with God. It's a chance to praise Him, ask for needs as long as it's not a "give me give me" sort of thing, and a way to ask Him for guidance. That's a summary of what a prayer is.
Matthew 6:9-13 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 'Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11 'Give us this day our daily bread. 12 'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 'And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.'] I'll get the translation for this from my office and post it later today. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, "pray continually" which means we should pray often and consistently. If you want to pray out loud that's ok. You'll see a lot of times people pray silently before they eat. Sometimes people pray out loud before they go to bed. If you want to know more just PM me. I'm a full time Youth Pastor at a First Baptist Church. To the world you might be one person but to one person you might be the world

I pray pretty constantly. Even the little things that happen, I just give them up to God or ask what he thinks I should do about it. I'm usually in conversation with God whenever I can be. I think prayer is what keeps my relationship with him so strong.
I pray out loud sometimes or I pray silently in my head. It really just depends on the situation and what's happening. Either way, God hears me and is faithful. (: I might be crazy. But have I told you lately that I love you? You're the only reason that I'm not afraid to fly. <3 |

I usually don't pray. Only when something bad happens, usually, which I guess isn't a good thing. But I kinda sit up and whisper my prayer.

How do I pray?
Silently and with my eyes tight shut, as I cling on to the back of my boyfriend's motorbike.

Haha, I've prayed in a lot of weird ways. One time we were having a student leader meeting and we all were laying on the floor when we prayed. Usually I have my eyes shut and I'm laying face down. But yeah, it doesn't really matter. It's kind of an ongoing conversation :P

Everyone confuses these things with love, but in reality, love is the only thing in this world that covers up all the pain and makes us feel wonderful again." In times of great despair, I will make a fleeting, silent prayer to the heavens to kill me.
Mostly, I don't believe enough to pray. |

I usually pray in my head, cuz ill do it sitting in class, in the car and its easier than having everyone around eavesdropping. I also pray at night before i go to sleep, mostly in my head also.

Well, this is probably gonna be unusual, but...
I don't really know what religion to believe in, though I'm quite interested in Pagan religions and ancient 'mythological' religions. So, when I feel the extreme need to pray, I'll make an offering of something -- usually some type of oil or something -- and then murmur my prayers, so my mom can't hear, lol. Though I've prayed to many different deities, Skadi, Isis, Freya, Artemis, and Athena all have places pretty near and dear to my heart. I don't even know what my religion is, lol, so. ![]() It takes a long time to grow an old friend. - John Leonard |

The only time I pray is at school, we usually all pray out loud together like the hail mary etc, or have someonne read out a prayer from a book or even make one up.

Sometimes I pray out loud, usually I pray in my head. But when I first started putting a lot of effort into praying and felt insecure about it, I'd write my prayers out in a journal...kind of like a letter to God? Anyways, now that I've gotten more confident in it, I just pray whenever. I try to pray without ceasing, but most days I don't think I do very well with that.

Matthew 6:5-6
The atoms that make up you and me were born in the hearts of suns many times greater than ours and in time our atoms will return once again to reside amongst the stars. Life is but an idle dalliance of the cosmos, frail, and soon forgotten. We have been set adrift in an ocean whose tides we are only beginning to comprehend, and with that maturity has come the realization that we are, at least for now, alone. In that loneliness, it falls to us to shine as brightly as the stars from which we came.
