First, you'd need to define "aura", for it is a very vague and malleable term. Based on the definitions I've heard of in the past, I haven't seen any -- nor have I found a reason to believe in their existence. Most pseud-scientists who believe in it will say something unintelligible about "spiritual energy" (ignoring the scientific definition of "energy").

my friend sees them, and she trained herself to see them. it took her about 2 years or so she says. you can always try sensing/feeling them cuz its easier. (i can feel them and sense it if its strong enough or im right next to the person) feeling them- basically whats the first color that comes to your mind when you touch someone. sensing- same thing. try with someone who you already know the color of other than yourself.

What exactly do you mean by auras? Is it supernatural or paranormal beings? Is it seeing a bunch of colours in reaction to a certain stimuli (which can have physiological explanations)?

THAT MUST MEAN YOU'RE PSYCHIC

Oh please stop being so naive. It's like having Deja Vu and believing you can see into the future in your dreams.

All you can do is tell what mood somebody is in. Everybody can do that. All you do is associate a mood with a colour.

Excuse me everyone, can we please stop being so rude towards the OP. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, it's not up to anyone here to tell them that their beliefs aren't real.

Re: Auras - September 27th 2011, 03:14 PM

I'm not here to flame you, or mock your beliefs, but please read through my post...

I'm great with sensing people. For instance, I know when someone enters my room, even if they made no sound, I know when people are in the house, even if they're as quiet as they could be. It's familairity to my surroundings.

Just by shaking someone's hand I can easily tell you a lot about them, their personality, their age, and their dreams. It's just a skill picked up by being good at reading human emotions and behaviour. An older person is more likely to imediately accept the handshake then someone who's younger who would likely hesitate for a few seconds. Their grip, their shaking speed, their facial expressions while hand shaking, it's all important and can be absorbed quite quickly.

Also noting, you caqn usually tell how someone is feeling if you stop and take a minute. If really analyze them you can get it quickly.

So what I would say your mother is doing is simply reading all of the signs above, which is an amazing talent that is very hard to learn. I would say that because she either does this so quickly she's unaware she does it, or she doesn't know the correct term ("reading people"is what most people call it.) and henceforth she believes she is reading auras.

I would recomend trying to learn to read people, simply by working with them and noticing

by auras i think the OP is talking about the natural energy that surrounds someone. everyone has the potential to see them. and the colors(if you can see or sense them) can tell you a lot about the person. but even a slight color difference could change the meaning/representation.

Because you say "natural", I'm afraid I have to point out that energy is the capacity for a physical system to perform work on another physical system...I really hope you meant "energy" in a non-literal way.

Fair enough, their beliefs are real to them, I cant refute that. However, we are, or at least should be allowed to tell the OP how we view their beliefs, even if it's a negative view.

What do you mean by, "natural energy"? As Jorge pointed out, if you mean "natural energy" in a literal way, you're referring to something entirely different.

Can you give me an example of what certain colours mean?

Of course, like I've said in the past, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm referring to posts that say "You're wrong and that's stupid" as opposed to "I think you're wrong and this is what's right..." Feel free to debate the topic, just try to stay civil and not being all mean.

by natural energy i mean like you know how you can sense someone without seeing them, more by feeling them? its like their presence.
some colors-
pea-green- shy and secluded
greyish-yellow- frustrated
yellow- has a happier ulterior than others(rarely in a bad mood)
red- passionate, energetic and powerful
blue- caring, motherly, loving

So all this proves is that some people are good at interacting and understanding people. I'm rather good at understanding what people are feeling like, be it body language, their appearance, the way they speak or something else. Often it's subconscious.

All you're doing is associating these emotions with colours.

Re: Auras - October 1st 2011, 11:41 AM

I used to be friends with a liar. Which obviously makes this very hard to believe.

When we were messing around one night with another girl, we started playing these games. You know the kind with Bloody Mary in the mirror? This one involved moving your arms a certain way and saying certain things (I can't even remember now) and a white lady would appear in front of you. Well the liar claimed to see her and claimed to be able to see other things after that, such as auras, because her "third eye" (or sixth Chakra in Buddhism) was "open".
She claimed that the colour of these auras represented what kind of person someone was. She told me I was close to gold, meaning I was a good person. She said our other friend who was a liar was pure gold with a black outline meaning she was a really good person but had demons around her or something.

Basically this whole experience has discredited any kind of belief I may have had in things like this beforehand because it was just so.. bad. She was an insanely bad actress and as far as I'm concerned, people who claim to see them and to communicate with spirits are just better at acting than she was.

That's not to say anyone here is lying or acting, it's just my general opinion.

Some people will go to any length to believe they're special or unique. Sometimes they'll even manage to convince themselves they are. Just my opinion.

Exactly, even if it's subconcious, not that this driving force is a bad thing. People can develope mental disorders by believing they have mental disorders. Even if you aren't intentionally doing this, it still can happen out of your sheer writhing power to be unique.
