Bought a Qur'an - October 6th 2011, 06:39 AM

Pretty self explanatory, it arrives tomorrow ($10 on Amazon ). I'm a liberal Christian and plan on reading it with an open mind, hopefully there won't be too many "Arab Genealogies" like a certain other religious book.

Anyone read it? Any highlights I should skip ahead to?

As-Salamu Alaykum

But no, I've never read it. Apparently it's better to hear a recitation, though. There's probably a lot of those online.

Lol, this isn't the depression and suicide forum. I'll keep that in mind next time I start having suicidal thoughts. Maybe I'll "follow along" like I do during the readings in Church.

Stay christian, if u dont want to do that, become a buddhist. Seriously, why does everyone love the Quran. Tons of people give islam a chance but dont give religions like buddhism a chance.

I'm sorry I was so late to notice this thread, I've edited a couple of posts that came to my attention when they were reported by other members of the site. Please read through your replies before posting to make sure they won't offend anyone on the site. Islam is a touchy subject but rude statements and disrespectful comments about it will be deleted.

That's awesome! Islam and Christianity are actually very similar, both monotheistic religions, believing in the same God, just with different prophets. I think it will give you a wonderful new point of view! As David sort of said, I would also recommend you check out other religious texts as well, some polytheistic or nontheistic ones. It's so wonderful to see how much the coincide, and great for somebody of a religious value to appreciate.

That's true! Islam actually believes in the same prophets as Christianity. Indeed it is a follow-up message from the same God! The names of the Prophets are different in the Quran, only because they are in Arabic.
