Okay, so I have the most absolute obscure question ever.
When you see a woman in a headscarf, and you can tell they are Islamic, but the headscarf is really cute, is it appropriate to compliment her? I'm completely serious. I saw the most beautiful headscarf today, and I could tell she was Islamic, or was pretty sure (we have a mosque near my school, I see a lot of them). But her headscarf had like some sequins on it, and was just really pretty, and I was standing by her a long time, and I really wanted to compliment her, but I felt it could be somehow disrepectful, or she could take it like I"m being sarcastic. Is it okay to compliment their head coverings, even if it is part of their sacred dress? Just wondering.

I have a friend from Qatar, it depends on where she's from, people from different countries would view it differently, for example, a Qatari or a Kuwaiti would appreciate the compliment, on the other hand, an Iraqi or a Pakistani wouldn't appreciate the compliment as much. An upper class Saudi would most likely appreciate it as well.

Okay, yeah, I know one of the uses of it in the stricter Islamic cultures is that they do not want to seek attention upon themselves, so I thought it would be weird for me saying. But it was so pretty! So I really wanted to compliment her.

Please don't call it a "mosque" d: . Most muslims find it offending especially cuz it sounds like a mouse of mosquitoes. (Thats the reply I got from my muslim friend when I said "mosque").
It is "Masjid". The pronunciation can be difficult for you but atleast it doesn't offend.
