On the topic of science.. - December 10th 2011, 10:31 PM

Who else believes that aliens are out there?
I mean c'mon, think about it... We cannot be the only intelligent life form... Even though I have to come to belive that a lot of our race isn't that intelligent, but anywho.

There has to be something out there, this has been a belief of mine for about 8 years now.
Does anyone else feel strongly about it?

There are 400 billion galaxies seeable for every two square inches of sky. Out of those 400 billion galaxies, there are trillions upon trillions upon trillions of worlds. And there are billions of square inches in earth's sky from about 1m above sea level.

The chances are very high that there is intelligent life out there. The chances that we'll end up in contact aren't nearly as high though. :/

Unless we can figure out how to live six hundred years and travel at lightspeed.

Oh, I know that there is something else out there.

I just wish we could get there, or that they could come here! If that ever happened, I would die happy.

I actually highly believe some organisms exist outside of earth, but I don't necessarily believe in intelligent life. If the universe truly is ever expanding then there are essesentially an unlimited number of opprotunities for life to develope under any set number of variables.

It would be very unusual for us to be the only form of life.

I also believe that there is other organism living out there somewhere amongst it all. But, I have a strong & firm belief that there has to be another form of intelligent life out there, that has may be been around longer than us.

Given the trillions of planets, I find it very hard to not believe there are other forms of life, some of which are intelligent.

Excatly, I just don't understand how some people can rule out that possibilty, saying we are the only intelligent life form. Pfft.

i think aliens are real and that other intelligent life forms are real. we definitely arent the only ones out there. heck, we might even be less intelligent than what is out there and theyre looking at us and laughing, who knows!

Two things on this topic: Given the vastness of the universe and relative short time humans have been around the chances of us stumbling upon each other is slim to none, it`s like throwing a dart into a black room with no walls, the chances of actually hitting your target is very improbably, but if enough time passes there will be more chances for random encounter.

Second, if any form of super intelligent alien lifeforms have seen us, I highly doubt they wouldn't have bothered to make contact, be it as equals, or as pity. We have comodities here on earth that could easily be tradable with other planets. Unless the hypothetical "alien government" was scared of us, they would not be monitoring us.

I still like to dream of alien contact... whether it be impossible or not.

This may sounds kind of wrong but after watching the movie "The Fourth Kind" over a year and a half ago it made me want to have contact with aliens even more.

Considering the vastness of the Universe and the requirements for life to form, I would be more surprised if there weren't other species out there, and at least some with sentience similar to or exceeding ours. The likelihood of Earth being the only planet in the entire Universe capable of sustaining intelligent life is so remote it's absurd and bordering on arrogance. Whether we'd actually be able to communicate with such life is another matter, or indeed what the consequences would be, but I certainly find it very credible that such life could exist.

We're not the only ones out there, of course! I don't know where else life can be found, but it's so possible that there is life somewhere else. I wonder how intelligent and advanced these other beings are, and if they're wondering the same thing about us!

Do they exist? Of course, that's a given.

Have we ever made contact? Hell naw.

Yes I believe they exist and I also believe they have visited us in the past.

yeah, i definitely think there are other life-forms out there, i've always believed that. why should we be the only ones? and just because there isn't another planet like earth (that we know of), why does that mean that life can't exist differently? i think just this past year they finally found evidence that life can exist without the 6 "essential" nutrients on earth. so, doesn't that show that life can exist in environments totally different from ours? and that life could exist in ways that could be so different, we may not even recognize it?
it would be soo cool to meet aliens, but i highly doubt that would ever happen in our lifetime, maybe not even for centuries at least.

Yup, I believe there's got to be something out there. Haven't we found Earth-like planets already that could possibly sustain life?

I wonder if other intelligent life has looked at our planet from their own equipment and been like "I wonder if that planet has life.."

It would be interesting to see if there was a planet civillised enough to do that. I would actually find it rather funny c:

haha we were talking about this during one of my classes today, and someone said something that really gave me a new perspective-- when fish are pulled out of water and "abducted" by us, it's like we're these aliens taking them to a new world in outer space, so why shouldn't it hold true that other aliens are out there and that people haven't been abducted from earth before like they claim to have been?
