Are there any more of me? - January 18th 2012, 06:33 PM

Okay, before I get into the topic of this thread, I just wanna say something. I'm posting this because I want to see if there are TH'ers who have similar views to mine, and I'm going to be explaining mine. I know there are going to be people who disagree with what I say, and you're entitled to your opinion and it's welcomed in a reply, as long as it's done tactfully. Having said that, I would greatly appreciate it if this thread could be promptly shut down if this turns into a huge religious debate in which people start to become offended, stop using tact, and start arguing in inappropriate amounts. There we go, disclaimer over

I'm an Agnostic Christian. Basically, I believe in God and Jesus, know a lot about biblical scripture (I'm no theologian though), but don't believe everything in the bible is 100% God's word, and I REALLY despise the concept of religion, if that makes any sense. I was just wondering if anybody else has similar beliefs as mine, and if you need me to elaborate more, the more specific the question, the easier for me to go in-depth on what I believe.

Maybe that will help.” Harvey Milk, 1978

I think I'm the same as you. I believe in God and Heaven. However, I don't agree with religion, the Bible, or that there's a Hell. I believe that if God loves you as much as Christians claim, He wouldn't deem you to Hell for sinning. But that's just my views and beliefs.

Please, do not start bashing my views here. That's not what I'm posting for.

I am not one, but I have been talking about Christian Agnosticism on here for a while.

Yes, I am an asshole. I am the person that's going to call you out on what you say and not pull punches. Instead of getting hurt about it, why not think, question, and learn?

I am a Christian, but there are some things in the bible I do not agree with. A few examples include premarital sex and homosexuality being bad. I can't stand homophobes.

I don't believe in the church, Protestant or Catholic, that is, or any denomination therein. I am an agnostic toward their idol. But, I do believe in the G-D of the Bible. I believe, like Tertullian and Justin the martyr, the Bible is inherent and where it contradicts, it doesn't contradict, but I don't understand it. I also believe, like them, that the Bible is revealed through the philosophy of the stoics and various places, so that all people hear the Gospel. And I believe there are Christians who don't know they believe in Jesus, but we know them by their fruits.

Is your G-D really G-D?
Is my G-D really G-D?
I think our G-D isn't G-D,
if He fits inside our head.

So I've seen you around, and I'm just really curious; why do you say G-D instead of god or God? I'm just wondering, I'm not against it or anything.

I'm a christian, but I believe that people should be able to be with the one they love, be it a girl or boy.

I did not assume you were against it, though, some seem put off by it. My answer is twofold.

I learned to type this name based on a Jewish belief. They believed that anything with G-D's name must never be destroyed, only buried. So, in the old testament, when they wrote is name, they kept out the vowels to preserve their writings. Thus, G-D's name is YHWH in the old testament.

Taking their belief, I realized too many people, namely myself, pretend to know things about the Bible and G-D. We sit and debate theologies, doctrines, and other things, instead of loving one another. I, therefore, took to this practice to remind me to tremble at His name and word, because I will be judged for each word proceeding my mouth, or keyboard. It is a reminder to me that no one can comprehend Him, and that He is holy.

Mind you, it is mostly a failed feat with feigned humility and self-depression by how I put myself down. But it reminds me to listen, not to speak, and reminds me of those who claim to know truth, are blind.

And I beg all readers, by the mercy and grace of the G-D of peace, not to believe any word I say. I do not possess any knowledge of G-D, and I truly hope you do not adopt my view, but the Bible's view. I do not even claim to be a Christian, just an aspiring one. So, please do not place your hope or faith in my words, but in Him who is able to save.

Is your G-D really G-D?
Is my G-D really G-D?
I think our G-D isn't G-D,
if He fits inside our head.
