What do you believe in after death? - February 12th 2012, 07:11 PM

I believe that when you die you enter the spirit world and you wait for everyone that was in your life good or bad to come to the spirit world then cross over into a new life.

What do you believe in after death?

Darlin' don't leave me out here in the cold
I'm begging you baby don't leave me out here on my own I'll die, If you don't hold me tight Tonight, I couldn't make it outside If I tried, So please let me in lover,
Be kind ♥

I would like to believe that when you die you go to your own personal "heaven" so to speak. A place that is filled with the people and things you loved most in your life.

I believe that I will go to Heaven after I die.

I'll go to Disney land with all my family and eat the best food I want and never get fat.

Then I'll be able to create animals and my first call of duty would be to create a unicorn so I can go up to the drive through and order food for it whenever It's hungry.

About halfway through eternity I'll ask the deity that created heaven (who's, coincidentally, called chickenonsteroids) to mess with people on earth by planting rocks that look like humans on mars. Then we'll laugh together realising that we've trolled 10 + billion people.

Sounds like a blast really

I believe in spirits, angels, and ghosts. I'm not sure what exactly happens but I do believe that souls are not lost and that they're always around.

I don't believe we have anything but electrical signals, like any other animal. It's like turning off a computer I guess, nothing but blackness.
Kinda depressing when I think about it...

I believe that most people go to heaven and join all of their family and friends who passed before them. I also believe that they can watch over us from there and become guardian angels of sorts for us. I also believe in hell, but only REALLY bad people go there.

I've always kind of pondered my own beliefs on this... I guess I'm debating between just not knowing what will happen or the underworld, judges for where you'll go - Asphodel, Elysium, Isle of the Blessed, or Fields of Punishment. I'm not entirely sure what I believe... I know i hope it's like the underworld... i rather like that idea...though the idea that nothing happens, that you just cease to exist kind of makes me think, I just can't imagine what it would be like... :P either way!

Hmm....
I believe in reincarnation, first off, but not in the traditional sense of eventually reaching enlightenment and heaven. I believe you spend some time in the good, bad, or neutral part of Hades before your karma becomes clear enough to be judged for your next life, and that you subconsciously retain the cultural memories of past lives, which accumulate and dissolve into your personality, hence certain interests of, say, Chinese culture. I also believe that memories from more recent lives show more than earlier on.
Anyways... yeah. Sorry for the long-winded explanation.

In all honesty, I'm really not concerned with it. My life is now, and I intend to live it to the fullest while I can. If it turns out there is no afterlife, then fine. I will have done everything I wanted to do in life. If there is, and there is a subsequent God, I will hope that he will realize I lived my life as a good person regardless of my lack of faith, and welcome me. Come to think of it, I would hope this God would be proud that I used the mental facilities he gave me to question everything- even his very existence, and allow the universe to teach me whatever there is to learn.

I believe in reincarnation, but I also believe that someone can get stuck in the "in-between" state. I don't believe that there is a heaven or hell. I also think that if you do good things in your past life and you were a genuinely good person, than your next life will be happier and full of luck.

I guess part of you would remain in a "Heaven" while the rest of you gets reincarnated. It's weird, I know.

Re: What do you believe in after death? - February 14th 2012, 04:25 AM

I don't see much point in focusing on death because it takes away from living our lives as best as we each can, so I take a simple approach of saying when I die from whatever cause, biochemical resources will be devoted to my brain, heart and respiratory tract but eventually it'll go down either softly or sporadically. It would be nice if the god was happy that I made the best of my life but if he/she was angry for whatever reason, then that's just too damn bad, it'll have to live with it. I don't believe I'll look down, up, diagonally or sideways on people and guide them or be an asshole by screwing with them. I believe once I'm dead then I'm dead and nothing fancy. It's not a happy view but I find it's more realistic and that makes me happy about it in a way.

I believe in a heaven after this life. I also believe in a hell, but not in the sense most people imagine it to be.

I like the idea in "What Dreams May Come;" that you can choose to become reincarnated after you die, though. I think that is pretty cool, although it isn't something I really believe.

I partly believe in reincarnation, but i think you are just 'there' when you die. I don't believe in heaven or hell. I believe you can decide what you want. You just roam after you die.

I die and my matter is decomposed into its very raw elements.
After that, I don't particularly believe anything will happen. Not that I pay too much attention to it at all. Living is far more important to me, because my accomplishments are guaranteed to occur if I work toward them. There's no point in awaiting a "better place" when there's a good possibility the one you believe in doesn't exist.

I don't think there's anything after death and I have no reason to believe otherwise, I didn't exist before I was born why would death be any different?

I believe that when we die, we have a time of "rest" and then we are re-incarnated if we hadn't completed the mission that is determined before our soul's existence. If we do complete the mission, our soul "retires" in a sense and goes to a place of rest.

I believe in nothing. Not eternal blackness or any other poor human conception of the concept, just literally not existing at all. Exactly the same thing as before you were born.

Nothing. You're just there. Not back to the earth, because you were part of the earth alive, just no longer sentient. I would like to be able to rot back into the earth, no cremation or burial process, but donate my organs for people and then have the rest of me rot back into the earth to help create more life. I don't believe I will become that life, but I will just become something larger than myself. But I already kind of am?

This is why I don't do spirituality. I get too confused by my own thoughts.

I believe I won't know whether or not there is an afterlife, because I'll be too busy decomposing in the ground (assuming anyone finds my body when I die; if not, then I'll be decomposing in a recliner chair with a beer and the television remote in my hands).

Because in the end, it doesn't even matter.

There is no such thing as a devout Christian, all Christians are devout. I am not devout. Read about the early Church, they were true Christians. I believe the Bible, but I believe fhe Bible condemns me. I do not believe Christianity, today, is genuine Christianity. Take a look at the book "The Early Christians in Their Own Words," by Eberhard Arnold.

A devout Christian is oxymoron. All Christians are devout, therefore, saying Christian should be synonymous with someone being devout about their religion. Thus, saying someone is a devout Christian is essentially saying you are a devout devout-Christian. If all Christians are devout, there are no "devout Christians," just Christians. The word devout is unnecessary, because it should be assumed any Christian is already devout. Anyone who claims to be a Christian, and isn't devout, isn't a Christian. Unlike other things, there aren't degrees of Christians. There are Christians and non-Christians. I.E. there's heaven and hell. Not a devout heaven and devout hell, to my knowledge. Though, I admit it is entirely possible for me to be wrong, in which case, I probably am.

It's simply a process of removing pointless words.

Christian = not Christian.

No. I'm saying Christians are devout. If they profess to be a Christian, and aren't devout, they aren't a Christian. Therefore, saying "devout" Christian is unnecessary. In essence:

Christian = devout Christian
Anything Else = not Christian

My emphasis is that a true Christian is devout. The New Testament tells us that if we hear the word, but do not do what is written, we are deceived. My point being, just because someone claims to be Christian, or claims to believe the Bible, if they don't obey it, they aren't Christian. And just by my observation, there are far and few those who obey the sermon on the mount. Or those who view creature comforts as worldliness. In fact, in many churches you'll find televisions, computers, etc. Yet Christ and his disciples sold all they had but the garnments on their back. As is the same for the Early Christians.
