Annihilation theorists (biblical doctrine) - March 10th 2012, 08:21 PM

While I find annihilation more consistent with scriptures, I remain an agnostic towards what Hell actually is. However, I find annihilation more consistent with the Bible, hermeneutics, and divorced from the heavy Greek philosophy of the early Church. I have a question though. In regards to Revelation 14 and 20 (I believe), which speak of the devil being tormented forever, and the smoke of the reprobates torment rising up forever, what is a rebuttal to the traditionalists view of Hell, if they were to mention these verses?

I'm not biblical scholar, but my response would be an emphatic "I don't know. Neither of us do. We may postulate, but in the end, the best we can do is live our lives doing as much good as possible, and whatever may happen, we can look back and say that we did our best."
