Religion is literally killing me.
 

Hi everyone, i found this website when i googled "Does God love gays?"
I found a thread on this website that had a lot to say on the topic.

I'm having a lot of problems in my life right now, and i honestly want it to end.
I want my mind to just stop thinking.
I want the pain and depression to go away.

I don't want to get into my whole life story, but basically, i'm 18 and gay.
I am having a lot of problems in my life right now.
All due to religion.

I truly want to believe in God.
Death honestly scares me so very very much.
I am a very very loving person.
I generally love everyone, or at least try to.
I know everyone has different beliefs, but i want to believe that there is an afterlife.
I know to some that an eternal life would be scary or boring.
I will admit that sometimes i think that too.
I love my mother though.
I love my family.
I don't want death to separate us.
I want to see them again in heaven.

Here's the problem.
I'm gay and i'm told that God doesn't approve of my lifestyle.
That God actually hates people like me.
I'm sexually immoral.
An abomination.
I should be put to death and thrown into the lake of fire just for loving someone.

This is ruining my relationship.
My boyfriend has become my babysitter.
I told him that i love him very much and i would understand if he left.
He should not have to go through depression with me.
It isn't fair to him.
He still remains.
He loves me.
Is that so sinful? Love?

Religion makes me physically sick.
I'm a complete mess.
If i believe in God, then i believe in an afterlife, but then i must also believe that i'm an abomination. Which makes me physically sick.

If i believe that there is no God, no afterlife, and i just cease to exist, then i can be happy and live my life to the fullest. Right?
Wrong.
Because now i will start to fear that there is no afterlife and when my boyfriend, my mom, my other family members, or my friends die, i will never see them again.

It's always a lose lose situation and i'm tried of it.
I'm tired of worrying.
I'm tired of crying, of being sick.
I just want to be happy again.
I just want to be happy.
I can't be.
I want to die.
This isn't just a rant.
Suicidal thoughts have been eating at me constantly.

I am a Christian, and I am a gay rights activist. Listen, god loves you. You were born gay, people don't choose to be gay. It's just how you are, so I would think god wouldn't have a problem with it because it's just who you are. You aren't hurting anyone; love is a beautiful thing, and Christianity preaches an all loving and forgiving god. I truly believe he loves you very much the way you are. Don't feel ashamed of yourself, hold your head high and be proud of who you are. God forgives sins, and although I do not believe homosexuality is a sin, if it is I don't believe it is something he would send you to hell for. Everyone has the right to love, no matter what the gender. Your boyfriend clearly loves you, and that is such a rare and precious thing in this world. God has blessed you with a wonderful boyfriend. I know some people say it's wrong, but I don't think so. I'm sure that god loves you as you are.

If you look at a lot of modern priests these days they do not condemn homosexuality, thinking like that is very old fashioned. If you want to embrace God into your life he will embrace you also.

God accepts us all. If he didn't, what kind of God would he be?

God doesn't hate gays, nor is it a sin. With each new passage we are expected to rethink what the last has told us, and reflect upon this new information. I know that the Bible states to love thy neighbours much more often than the singular passage in which it directly condemmed homosexuality. Accepting and loving each other is the reoccuring theme of the Bible, NOT hating anyone based on race, age, gender, sexual identity, etcetera.

Anyone who "hates" or condems gay people, Christian or otherwise is obviously a very backwards thinker. I won't argue that religion attracts morons as they simply want guidance through the world. As a result you need to determine if each individual religious person is a moron. If they are, move on. If they aren't, good for you.

You have to realize some people are intelligent, some people are backwards and some people are religious. Directly the qualities have nothing to do with one another. Just because some Christians "hate" you doesn't mean they're right.

"Hate the sin, not the sinner"

Although I don't view any sexuality a sin, that's the saying. If being gay is a sin, then it doesn't matter. Curing is a sin. Does God hate cursers? Smoking is a sin. Does God hate smokers? Nope. A sin is a sin to God. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and that shows that both Jesus and God love us very much.

Now, I don't view being gay a sin, but IF it is a sin, that's how it works. :)

God loves you, no matter what. End of story.

My school recently came out with one of those "It Gets Better" videos, and I think you might really benefit from its message. I realize you probably aren't Mormon, but Mormons are Christians too, and these are people who are struggling with similar things.

Note: I'm not trying to force my beliefs on you, and I'm not trying to start a "are Mormons Christian?" debate.

It's just that this vid was the first thing I thought of while reading your post.
