New artwork (though just a doodle.) -

This isn't really very good, I just doodled it together. I'm studying Japanese, and I needed a notebook to keep all my stuff in. To learn the Japanese alphabet (hiragana, katakana, and finally kanji which is quite different) I have to practice writing the characters daily. I've been slacking and I'm forgetting the characters, so I made a notebook to practice the characters and words every day. I wanted it to have a cover so it wasn't so boring, and I doodled this together. the sad part is, I honestly just drew this to procrastinate my kana practice for a while longer.
 Oh, and kudos to anyone who can read any of those characters or translate what is said in the speech bubble.  Also, using a translator to read it is considered cheating.

I get so excited when I see you've posted something new.
I can read most of the characters, and I know all the words in the speech bubble except the underlined one. This was brilliant, by the way.

Haru, your doodles are like what I would be able to draw if I spent a billion dollars in art school. This is amazing!
...But I don't speak any Japanese.  So a translation would be fabulous.

Okay, I confess. The letters, or characters, that you see each represent a sound. One is ka, another is ki, one is ko, one is te, one is mo, they're all just randomly there. The letters are hiragana, which has a total of 46 characters, and that's only one of the writing systems. In Japanese, there are 3 writing systems. The other two are katakana and kanji.
In the picture, it says "Japanese is hard!" Because it really is. Memorizing all those characters takes practice, practice, and loads more practice. And that's just the writing system.
