A Short True Story - March 1st 2015, 04:37 AM

The little girl in blue overall stands in front of the bedroom door, hearing her father screaming at her mother. She could hear her baby sister crying in her crib, wailing in fear from the screams. The little girl with her teary brown eyes, goes to knock on the door when it flies open. Her mother rushes out holding her sister and her pregnant belly sticking out under her pajama shirt.

"Sweetheart, go get your snow boots and snow jacket on" Her mother says as she rushed down the stairs. The little girl runs into her room and quickly gets dressed. Her mother comes up the stairs as her father walks out of the bedroom. The little girl looks at her father and is filled with fear. His eyes were filled with anger and hatred. He was staring at her mother with a burning hatred. He grabs at her mother and pushes her down the stairs, while the little girl screams to him to stop. She tries to rush passed her father and is grabbed by the arm. He holds her tightly, causing her to cry out in pain. She wiggles and kicks at him to let her go and as soon as he loosens his grip, she rushes down the stairs. She helps her mother up and they rush out of the apartment, only stopping to put her crying sister in her stroller.

The snow falls thickly as they walk down the empty streets. The little girl is shivering from the cold, her mother in worst condition, only wearing a small thin sweater. A cop car drives by and makes a turn back to them. The cop leaves the car and starts to question the mother. The little girl answers as much as possible and the cop rushes them into the car. After a few minutes, they arrive at a shelter and are rushed into an empty room. The baby sister is asleep in her stroller and they put her in the crib of the room. The mother lays down on the bed after being checked out by a doctor. The little girl lays down with her mother and they both fall asleep.

Midday, they awake to the sound of the baby sister crying in hunger. The little girl gets up, slightly confused by her surroundings. She notices a large black bag next to a dresser. She goes to it and opens it to see it filled with toys. With a smile on her face, she shows her mom a little teddy bear that was on top of everything. Her mother looks at the toy and starts to cry. The little girl hugs her mother for a little while before going back to the bag. The mother gets up and spots a card on the dresser. Opening it, she smiles as tears roll down her cheeks. On the card it said,
"Merry Christmas"

I love this. It's so emotional and the ending is perfect.
