nevertheless she persisted - February 23rd 2017, 07:58 PM

Trying so hard not to stoop down to the level of the people who've hurt me. It is a daily struggle

I made affirmations into a poem.

I have it in me
To walk away
Remove myself
From the overwhelming situation
I am no longer a helpless child
I have it in me
to cry when I need to
Feel the anger and release
Through music, art, poetry
Without reacting too soon
Or acting on impulse
I have self-regulation within me

I am not a monster
I am not a bully
I am not an abuser
I am only human

I have it in me
to express myself
To assert myself
and do so constructively
No shouting, yelling, losing temper
I have the power,
to use my words wisely
To use my words calmly
To be heard
As well as listen to others'
Stick to one topic,
Appreciate the positive, then suggest concrete steps
address what can be worked on
I have communication skills within me

I am not a monster
I am not a bully
I am not an abuser
I am not a psychopath
I am not a terrorist
I am only trying my best
With the resources I have
I am only human

I have it in me
To keep going
When life gets tough
When I slip up
When I lose my temper
When I rage with anger
I have it in me
To get back up
Crawl if I must!
jump through hurdles
Dodge bullets
Climb mountains
Slow down
Think things through
Rest when I need to
Pair up with a friend
To fix a boat and get across the river
These problem solving ideas can happen
When I step back and look
Life really is a work of art
There is little magical moments everyday

I have the resilience within me
To remain hopeful and joyful
As much as my childhood has been robbed from me
No one can take what I keep within me

I am really glad that you did affirmations! You've got this.

Do you ever get a little bit tired of life
Like you're not really happy but you don't wanna die
Like you're hanging by a thread but you gotta survive
'Cause you gotta survive

Got excited when I saw a post from you. This is really cool and it's an awesome way to remind yourself of your coping skills!

If clarity's in death, then why won't this die?
Years of tearing down our banners, you and I
Living for the thrill of hitting you where it hurts
Give me back my girlhood, it was mine first

The axe forgets, but the tree remembers

It's great that you decided to turn affirmations into a poem, and this turned out really well. I really enjoyed reading this.
