Remembrance. - May 29th 2009, 06:48 AM

Remember when, thunder made you shake with fright
When all the world was a star, and all shined bright

When birthdays were a special kind of day
When one year went, another was here to stay

Late night cartoons made you giggle and smile
Every dance, every song, was worth the while

The day you rode without extra wheels
The day you learned just how freedom feels

Do you remember, your very first day of school?
Every laugh, every smile, were all "oh so cool"

The day you took your first walk
Alone, around your own block

The day you decided to try and fly
And when you were stopped, you learned how to cry

The day you made your very first best friend
Who promised to be with you till the end

And as you grew wiser, older
You learned that the world grows colder

You remember the day, you first got high
You remember the day, you learned to fly

You remember the time, your best friend died
All because you were scared, because you lied

You remember fights, every Friday night
Why does this world, no longer shine as bright?

You remember the first day you picked up the cold blade
You remember the first year, you earned a failing grade

The day no one stopped you, when you started to fall
Then one day you lost it, the day you lost your all

Remembering the days, where the world always shined bright
But now your skies are long and dark, and you shake with fright

Today you forgot how freedom truly feels
Along with your extra set of training wheels

A lonely soul in a land of broken hearts

Amanda, you're an amazing writer! All of your poems are so meaningful and well-written and thoughtful and definitely reflect things that are "real" in a really beautiful way.

Good job.

Drown in the music,
dance in the rain,
block out the thunder,
and let the scars fade.
